So the grassy area is your property and the paved area is theirs?

Yes, the fence fell into our yard. The cops pretty much told them they are insane and if the fence falls on a kid (in our yard) we can sue them and if they try to take down the new fence then that's vandalism and we can press charges. I was inside with my son and my husband was out with the cops and the cops were like "what's your problem, they are doing everything and building you a new fence!" Then told my husband "build the fence". So crazy! Then she wa saying to the cops how "it was a good neighborhood until we moved in" and the cop turned to my husband and just said "Yah, forget she said that". They are just horrible nasty people! I don't know why you would complain about someone fixing, for free, a rotten fence that has fallen down! So crazy! So next weekend were fixing it!

I wonder if the old guy has dementia or something.  I hope everything works out OK.
Nasty neighbors can really be hard to deal with.

I think he must and I think they are just nasty mean people too. So a double whammy! The rest of the neighbors are fine. I was just so shocked!

I was fixing to say.. if their fence has fallen in your yard... they are lucky you're doing what you're doing.

We built all of our new fences a foot from the property line, just in case we ever get crazy neighbors.

Lol! Well I hope this will shut them up! It makes no since! My husband told me that cop was like "listen sir, this is like a $1000 job, they are building a new fence, increasing YOUR property value and asking for nothing! They are doing it for free, what's the problem?" I'm still just in shock. Everything is being built in the same spot. There is nothing to complain about. It's just crazy. But oh well. They are both elderly, so hopefully we won't have to deal with them for long! Some people just like to be mean for no reason. I don't get it.

Who put up the original fence? Who's land is it on? Is it exactly on the property line? At least where I come from, the home owner is within his rights to harvest any fruit from a neighbor's tree, on the branches that cross the property line. It seems that it'd be the same situation regarding a fence that has fallen over onto your property line. Give the neighbors time to get it off your property, if they don't you're within your rights to remove it. I'm guessing that dementia or some other mental illness is involved here. That does not negate the fact that you have a safety issue here now. I wish you the best with this situation.

The fence is propped up for now, by us, and will be replaced, by us, this weekend. It's on the property line and we will be rebuilding the fence in the exact same spot. We live in town, these people are just crazy and mean, I imagine just to be crazy and mean. The police already explained to them that we WILL be rebuilding our fence (apparently it made the old crazy man very mad when the cop kept calling it our fence

) and that it is a safety issue and that there is no reason for him to be acting like this. Also, because the fence fell on our property, we can do whatever we want with it. They don't want to deal with it and they wouldn't do anything anyways. They just want to be mean for no reason. They were also extremely rude to the cops (no surprise there), and both officers kept explaining to them over and over that the fence fell, it needs to be replaced and it will be replaced, in the same spot. The only thing that is happening is a rotten, fallen down fence is being replaced, which will increase THEIR property value. Then the neighbors started complaining about this ugly, invasive plant that they have growing on the fence. The cop was just like "are you kidding?" They were complaining now about how the plant, that's now in our yard, will be cut! They are crazy! So this whole week my daycare kids have to stay inside, until the fence is fixed next weekend. Oh, she also told the cops how we are ruining the neighborhood with our two ducks and me having a daycare! Lmao! The cop was just like "yup, they have kids, they want a safe fence! They can sue you if your rotten fence falls on a kid!" The officer made the fence theirs when placeing blame, ours for fixing. Lmao. It was honestly the craziest thing. I want to get it fixed fast next week so it's over with!

And yes, due to the fact that he kept saying things like "my land", he has a lot in town, no "land" and "last time you fixed the fence", we've never fixed the fence and "your trying to take advantage of me", how are we taking advantage? If someone wants to build me a new fence for free and that's "taking advantage", Please come take advantage of me! Lol. I would imagine there is mental illness and dementia involved and on top of that, I think they are just mean people too. Both of them. We were being nice to them, the cops were as nice as they could be and the neighbors just kept saying mean, nasty things. That's who they are. So we need to get the fence up and fast!
