Friend: "SERIOUSLY?!?! Can you really eat them? Are the yolks green!?"

Me: "Yeah I eat them....and no the yolks aren't green....just the shell."

When I told the people I work with that I bought chickens this spring, their first comment has been are they laying eggs yet? Second comment, are you going to bring us some.

Other people have said things like why in the world would you want to have chickens, my reply, breakfast, lunch and dinner

We went to a family b'day party and were discussing our chickens, and how we both collect eggs and process the extra roosters. DH's cousin was grossed out to hear that we eat roosters. I asked her what she thinks she gets from the store - her response: Chickens! I don't eat roosters!
