You have a beautiful little flock!

And you are right about "little roo" he is quite the handsome boy. When they all get older, those girls will be at his "beak" and "caw"!

Nice to have a purpose around here. My summer days have been so boring, it is absalutely great to delight in the simple joy of watching 7 happy cluckers free ranging.
Yesterday little Girl the EE took off running with what seemed to be a large insect in her mouth. I wanted to see what it was, so I got closer. I was shocked to see all but the head of a incredibly small toad! I have a strange fondness for toads and frogs, so I raced to get it out of her mouth before it died. I went for her, she went crazy. Pretty soon I was running full speed after a small whitish speck doing laps around our yard. I finally got her, and she refused to open her mouth! But eventually she gave up. It was too late... I was shocked at the size of the thing. It could have fit easily on a dime! No external injuries, but I'm sure she killed it by crushing it it with the magnificent power of her beak. Haha. Bad as I felt, I couldnt stop myself from giving it back to her. The whole time I was examining it, she stood on my feet looking around in confusion. I knew she was proud of heself though. I dropped it on the ground, she took it in her beak and swallowed it whole. Yuck. I hope the babies arent poisonous or anything. I heard adults are. I hope she does not develope a taste for toads. Imagine if she ran into a full grown one! Those EEs have such personality

As for Little Roo, he has been naughty. He has pooped in the outside water dish two days in a row now! But he is enjoying the company of his herd, and no more fighting is going on (that I can see). Him and Big Girl do not have respect for each other.
My brother is convinced that Omelet hates him. She is nearly impossible to catch and when you catch her she freaks out. I really hope she doesnt stay that way.

Now I am focusing on names. I have narrowed down my favorites to the following:
Lemon
Peach (I am thinkin that ones for little Girl, cause of her color?)
PB or Pacobean (Yeah, you know who thats for)
Barbara (the RIR?)
Duck (after my favorite turkey, thinkin that for Big Girl since shes so big)
Lucy
June
Skittles
Dot
Cola

Suggestions are welcome!

Yesterday, my brother went outside, saying "I'm gonna go give Roo a hug" He came back in a minute later, saying "I dont think Roo wanted a hug today." HAHAHA!

The big rental house has people staying in it. ABout 8? They act like they have never seen a chicken before in their life! Silly silly stuff... for now, the thundering herd is confined to the dog kennel, in the back yard. They are going crazy. Roo still hasnt learned that he is too big to fit therough the bars. So he sticks his head out, digs his magnificent talons into the ground, and pushes. That doesnt work, he tries the next one. And the next. He tries the whole cage, searching for a weakness. He cant find one. Now its time to go to the next level. He trots to the very end, and makes a dash towads the other side, throwing his whole weight into the bars. He has gotten stuck about three times now, and every day the same pattern occurs. Silly bird.

Unfourtunately, my camera has decided it had enough of its batteries. Of course, we have no Double A batteries in my home. NO pics for a while.... you'll have to settle for boring old words. Sorry

I love this herd! And my brother would sooo do that to one of my pullets. Omelet sounds like my little Golden Buff, Poppy. She always runs around and freaks out when you try to pick her up, too!

Mind if I make a post like this for my flock? I'll give you credit.
