Yes! I'm an Orthodox Christian, and Lent is the time of preparation for Easter, the Lord's Resurrection. It's 40 days long, in remembrance of the Lord's 40 days in the wilderness. Traditionally you give up all animal products. In the Catholic Church, fasting usually isn't as strict. I don't remember what specifically. In Protestant Churches, there usually isn't any type of fasting.Oh, I'm not religious.

July 7thFor a second I thought you said "I have cancer too"
Whens your birthday?
Oh my god I was also about to say everything and nothingOmg I didn't see your reply before mine
You can do that too, it's just more traditional when you're an older teen/adult to do animal productsoh, nice. I thought it just meant to give up something important to you. Do other people do that, too? Somebody made a joke in a thread that somebody gave them (the thread) up for lent (the said person hasn't been active on BYC).. So I thought it was just giving up something you enjoyed for a period of time

Why on earth is this even getting brought up? Which class is this?I had a question for y'all. If you've ever dealt with a sexist, misogynistic teacher, what did you do? I have one, and I'm tired of everyone just ignoring it. In 7th grade he called me the 21st century feminist for an ENTIRE YEAR because I said that women could have a career outside of the home. He constantly says stuff like "women belong in the kitchen." When we read medieval literature and there just happen to be two women and some idiot men, he blames the men's adultery/idiocy on the women. I'm sick and tired of keeping my mouth shut when this boomer opens his mouth and drags the majority of his students through the mud.
I was just asking for advice. I'm deleting the post, it feels off topic. I'm sorryA blessed Lent to you!
