The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

I received a box like that - well much larger but in the same condition. It was oozing stank and I hurled as I carried it home from the post office.

Sadly it was from Frank Reece of Good Sheppard Poultry and contained 24 heritage barred rock and 24 Jersey Giants. What makes it sadder was I had booked to ship a month later and he shipped incorrectly. I received promises to reship. Next due date their was a blizzard in Kansas. Frank did not ship. Since then he simply stopped returning my emails. I send one a month with no response.

This really set back my getting the flock out of here project.
Wow, Oz. How long has it been?

If it had been just an USPS issue, I would say, seek your refund from them. It was most definitely a handling issue. But if you had them ordered for a later date, and they arrived at the wrong time, I say you have a shipper complaint. The fact that USPS failed you is beside the point. You could have been out of town (or the country) or had all your bators full when they arrived. I am glad to hear that they offered to reship and believe that they are blameless for the issues with weather, but to stop returning e-mails, all together?

That is really disappointing and disturbing. Isn't the reason we deal with reputable people (and pay a higher price to them) because they have the reputation of having quality stock and of treating their customers fairly? I know it makes me more cautious when considering spending money on Good Sheppard Poultry's fowl. I can understand that some customers try to take advantage of hatcheries by making false claims, but it is hard for me to believe that they could do a bit of checking here, to see that their customer is reputable, as well.

Keep us posted on this, we need to know what we can expect from him.

I am very excited about the Blue Andalusian eggs it looks like 14 of the 16 are doing great! But the turkey eggs only 2 of the 6 look like they are doing anything. But the rest look great! It is so awesome to see them moving in the shells!
I can hardly wait till they all get here!

What day are the turkey eggs on? They take longer before you can see development than chicken eggs. Unless they are more than 10 days along, don't give up on them yet.
