The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Hello, Alaskan, fancy meeting you here!

I have a bator full! The next batch is due the Wednesday before Easter (I think) but would have to check my calendar to make sure. I have a batch of shipped eggs in there that are due around the 19th. I think there may be a third set, but I can't remember right now (still at work.)

My problem is that we lost power due to storm damage on Sunday night/Monday night and I am waiting to see if there are any that will hatch. I candled one of the Easter batch and saw movement, but he veins didn't look good. I also candled two of the the shipped eggs and saw no movement at all.

I'm just waiting........

You are welcome to share your hatching results here, are any of your eggs shipped?

Yeah, I read your horror story :sick and :hugs

That is why I was asking if anyone was setting eggs now. I started one up today, another set will be tomorrow, a third on Sunday or Tuesday, and then a fourth hopefully right after that (not yet in the mail)

I wanna be in a hatch group with eggs about the same age... More fun that way.

I can NOT believe it! My second egg shipment arrived today, and (long drum roll please) EVERY SINGLE EGG IS PERFECT! :th

(The first shipment, though packaged very well had 9 smashed eggs that gooed up most of the rest.)

Did you take pictures of the packing?

Nope, but it was simple. Each egg was wrapped in a bit of toilet paper, stuck in an egg carton, the carton was closed and wrapped in bubble wrap. The two egg cartons, both done the same way, were then stacked, inside of a flat rate box with lots of packing peanuts on all sides.

I am happy the eggs made it ok, but that is not the best packing method. Have you looked at the first couple of posts to see how wisher packs eggs?
