I have had fairly good luck with my shipped eggs thanks to the Rcom.
Shipped eggs really need a lot of luck. When I get a box I let them rest a day in a egg carton in my cupboard .
I set them in the Rcom in a egg carton a few days , in the genesis I set them in the turner and leave it off a few days .
after 2-3 days I lay them in the turner and go.
I keep the Rcom at 35% the first 18 days an jump to 65%
In the Genesis I add a little water every few days. it goes up to about 45% and I let it go down to 25-30% and add a little more
I really prefer not to incubate shipped eggs in the Genesis . all things equal the Rcom is far superior and I try to only trust shipped eggs to that. Though I am waiting on black penedesenca eggs Monday that will go in the Rcom I just set some crele in the Genesis because I had too.
My own eggs hatch great in the genesis . I am no expert though I have hatched many many many clutches and I have enough of what I need. so I try not and over do the thinking on the incubating lol. thats just me.
My hatch rates I am happy with but I also do not try and bring in many eggs
Please note that these eggs all came to me in Southern California. They were then repacked in size appropriate foam, and placed in three layers USPS Regional Flat Box B. The boxes were padded externally and then shipped in luggage to Asia - 7500 miles
I have 1000s of eggs with data but this is my most recent hatch.I need more data on eggs that are not effected by the overseas flight to be most useful to the research paper
I will be setting up a new thread with a form so that hopefully I can get good help from BYCers. To participate in the final research (apart from the questions I earlier asked to be PMd, I will need a control group local egg hatch of > 50% of the shipped eggs. You will have the option of giving your name or user name. If you supply me with your name I will add you as a co-author. The goal is to get it published in a peer reviewed scientific journal.
