The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Is it better to double box even if the inner box sides are only a couple inches from the outer box side? So not much room for padding between boxes, but plenty inside the inner box around the eggs. Or is it just as effective to bubble wrap eggs, then tape them together and cover in a homemade type of cardboard box, but leaving more room between it and the outer box side for more padding (paper, straw, peanuts, etc.)

The flat rate boxes I got at the PO are, well, flat not really square enough. Guess I have to order the actual box shaped ones online? Trying to find best alternatives in what I can snag from work!

I order free boxes from usps.com. I can fit 14-15 eggs (newspaper wrapped then bubble wrapped) inside "REGIONAL BOX A". The "REGIONAL BOX A" fits really well inside the "MEDIUM FLAT RATE BOX" with room for big bubble wrap.
You can order all sorts of free boxes from USPS.COM....They deliver them right to my door

I order my boxes and priority labels from USPS, paper towels from Sam's, bubble wrap from Amazon, and get my shavings from TSC.

I get packing tape and scotch tape wherever I find it cheapest.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I'm constantly ordering something that I'm running low on.

My favorite combination is the 7x7x6 for the inner box and the 12x12x8 for the outer box. I can fit 18 eggs in the small box and leaves plenty of room for padding between the two boxes.
