Ron,The eggs packed in sawdust hatch on the third.
Ron looks like we will be keeping each.other distracted and far away from the incubatorsThursday. My usual distractions aren't going to be as much. I get off at 12 Thursday instead of 530 then my youngest will be at her dads so that's half the homework and baths. dh won't be here until 730 pm so I don't start supper until 7.
Lockdown went good I pulled 6 and started eggtopsy one had quite within the last week and one was still alive. after the alive one I decided to put the other 4 back just in case. I know have 28 going into lockdown, 12 in the white carton that looked full, 12 in the pink carton that I wasn't sure about and 4 well... I have 4 reusable paper towels under the wire and all the chambers full and humidity is holding at 71%
Quote: I am quite distracted right now! Too bad I have to go to work.....
That is a genius idea! I bet the one in the middle will be perfect too! Here are the pictures of the latest experiment. I needed a distraction while I wait for my first shipped eggs to arrive! I have never received eggs to hatch! That will be
Phase Two of The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!!
I wrapped the eggs in bubble wrap and left the top and bottom open. I put shredded paper in the bottom of the clean can.
I placed the egg in the can and filled the spaces around it with more shredded paper. A butter knife was used to carefully pack the paper around the outside of the bubble wrap.
Then, I tucked the stray strips of paper in around the top.
I did three eggs this way and placed them between the two boxes (I was shipping eggs to Texas and added the cans and extra eggs as an after thought. If just cans were used, it would not be necessary to double box.
There are three cans in the end of the box and I packed more paper in the gaps to keep them from rattling around.
Lastly, I topped it all off with more shredded paper and sealed it up. I thought about adding something to cover that tops of the cans so that the eggs couldn't be punctured from the top, maybe thick cardboard or a thin piece of plywood (paneling.)
Now, just waiting on the report from the recipient! They should arrive on Wednesday!
