The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

alaskan I am tempted to ship you some eggs just to see if I could get some all the way to alaska in one piece

I'm tempted too! (well, for the cost of shipping). I haven't had any complaints of broken eggs in the lower 48.

Pictures of the packing! Alaskan must take pictures when they get there--Voles can take pictures too? if @Alaskan is not a picture taker.....

Well, this was my first year doing shipped eggs, and I had five different chicken egg shipments and one quail egg shipment.

And, as I have also found when having tile, school books, or anything else shipped up here....

DON'T LET THE STUFF WIGGLE

I think I posted the picture of the best packed eggs that I got, also the BEST fertility rate AND best hatch rate AND lowest percent "problem chicks"

I will stick the picture here again, there was NO wiggle room! The space you see is from the eggs I already removed.

Oh, awesome about offering to ship me eggs :D but I am trying to do only certain breeds....and I think I kinda have too many chicks this year.

I also have a few to many chicks.........i put some started Trio's and chicks on Craig's list today..out of sheer curiosity i incubated some eggs I found hidden in a youngster area they were caked in mud right on the floor it was kind of cold only in the 40's unknown age but not fresh i had sold all the hatching eggs that week it may have been just 1 or 2 hens,so couldn't sell them and really didn't want to eat them ...of course 15/15 hatched so I listed them ..I have 7 more in but that was an order for a certain date.

Hope to have quail eventually. I've raised them before and I really like them.

All I have right now is Marans, Olive Eggers, and a sustainable broiler project.

ARG!

Ok, I give..... :D

How could I say no to such lovely eggs for just the cost of shipping??? (The mind boggles at the thought)

Marans (prefer Black Copper since I already have some of those) and Olive Eggers.

how much is shipping?

Ok so one of the ducklings died :( he just stopped half way and does it was so sad, but the other one is moving about fine he's running around the incubator we named him daffy :) and then the last one in the incubator is coming....... Foot first, is this normal?

I don't know. I don't have a scale yet, but I have a zone chart. If you'll give me the first 3 digits of your zip code, I think I can make a rough estimate.

When I ship 12+ to the lower 48, I quote a flat $15 for shipping, and it's almost always somewhere between $15.xx to $17.xx
