Update:
Hans is doing so much better! In fact, he has a problem most every guinea pig wishes for - he needs to gain weight! He ate lettuce to his hearts desire. Now he craves celery and carrots. He's been getting Timothy grass pellets (because alfalfa is high in calcium). He's still getting his medicine via syringe to ensure that he gets well cleaned out and we don't have the typical reoccurring kidney stones.

They are so cute. I currently don't have any but do want to keep some again one day.
Do people commonly let them outside? Can the be put in a pen to graze? I once owned one years ago but didn't actually know what I was doing, so now I am trying to learn a bit about them before acquiring one.
