My life has improved under this administration. I have just begun year four in my business, and am close to finishing my degree online. I still own my house, raise chickens, and have a beautiful garden. Two of my children are doing great in public school, and my oldest is home schooled preparing for an early start at community college. Please don't imply I don't work or contribute to the system. I have paid a lot of taxes too :)
Are you otherwise inept? are you saying you could not have done what you are doing without Obama? see my point? I would not be so quick to give credit where credit is not due.

One thing I always wonder about, why is Paul in the GOP ? establishment

The two party system is the only system we have (sadly!) Both parties have contributed to the near impossibility for independents or third party candidates to be elected at this point. Nevertheless, Republicans talk about limited federal government vs the big federal agenda of the Democrats. Paul is outside of the current gop box but Paul isn't one to side with the dem agenda to constantly increase the role of the feds either. Republicans are supposed to stand for fiscal responsibility and limited federal government and that is Ron Paul, in addition to his dedicated adherence to the Constitution. The parties adopt platforms that not all who are affiliated with the party agree to. Thankfully the Libertarian faction of the Republicans is growing stronger.

I haven't studied the details of this new arrangement but, if I understand correctly, it will force people, to some extent, to buy private insurance. Please correct me if I have that wrong.

If that's so, I would say that it will succeed only as a first step. To work properly, the insurance must be State (Federal) run through tax contributions. Also, most of the resources must be either State owned or State controlled. If you leave the private sector, with its profit objectives, to run health it may be more expensive and those in most need will either be excluded or run out of cover. There's no reason why those who can should not pay for private treatment if that is their wish.

My impression is that Obama's scheme is a step in the right direction but needs to be developed much further. However if someone take the attitude that he is wealthy enough to cope with the private sector and doesn't care one jot for his fellows, then my views won't be accepted. If someone claims that social advances are unconstitutional, then I pity such a society.

The political youth demographic starts about at the ripe old age of 25. People younger than that have other things on their mind.

Get them hooked on freebies early.

I am still waiting for a reality show that is actually a reality. Where 30 year old "kids" live in mom and dad's basement and have all sorts of excuses why their parents need them there. And, where the parents lackl the intestinal fortitude to kick them out of the nest... and that doesn't mean from the original nest in to the government nest either.

It will be interesting to see the stats on what age group will be paying the tax/penalty or whatever they call it. And which minority groups will be exempt.
Trust me when I say that I want to be able to have own my apartment and move out of my parents house ASAP!!

Without going to deep into personal troubles, I have thankfully (humbly) accepted food assistance to make sure my children have not gone hungry while successfully building my business. People find themselves in situations not always expected, and I for one am grateful to live in a country that at least some people believe caring for the poor is important. Not everyone who takes assistance always needed or lived with assistance, and not everyone will live on it forever. And many do not take the help for granted. This isn't about wealth distribution. I have worked and have paid taxes much of my life, but raising three children alone has been a challenge. I hate the way the President's attention to the poor as "Food Stamp King" is thrown around as an insult. I see this as being a good and kind leader. The financial crisis has caused a lot of trouble. Our president has taken steps he believed would lessen the negative effects all of us might have experienced. I for one do believe many of his steps have been beneficial. I give credit where credit IS due.

I really think the Libertarians would do better with the public in elections if they would nominate someone not from the pot crowd.
So you believe that we should be free but not when it comes to a God given medicine which should be ours without charge? You prefer such people sit in jail and have their families destroyed and property seized? Well that type of thinking is not of the liberty mindset ~ Libertarian.
