No..because if you cant afford to pay for it..you simply cant. So they go along hoping nothing happens..
unless they are low income...(not working) then you get everything for free..:/ and others will pay for you..
That's how Obama wants it..it seems.

This law is going to help noone but the low income who can get a waiver to not have to purchase health ins.

Unless someone can explain it better to me..?

It will help a lot of people, especially those who are in between jobs and working part time with health conditions, those wanting insurance but unable to obtain coverage. I anticipate the people who will be burdened are the healthy and young (30, give or take a some years) those who do not have kids and have not seen a reason to purchase health insurance although their income is sufficient for the extra $100-$200 a month in premium. Everyone will be required to have insurance (or pay the tax) There will be subsidies to help those who cannot afford it, thus forcing them into IRS view..

The same group that has always been taxed by democrats. The bill will show up on your tax returns and be enforced and collected by the IRS. Can we say "I was lied to?"

I am curious how this law will effect the 1%.
I'm not too sure true Democrats will feel "lied to." For the most part, they believe everyone should have insurance and realize it needs to be paid for. They trust the government to make sure it is affordable and not be ripped off by the insurance companies.

I doubt the 1% will experience any effect.

It will effect the 1% and a lot of others. My health insurance has gone up about 60% already.

You do know that not all democrats are welfare recipients don't you? Some people just believe that a country as blessed as ours can ensure all people (even the poor) received some life essentials such as food, shelter, and basic health care. I agree with the radical (?) idea.

Does anyone really think that those who pay no income tx now, whether because of actual income or deductions are suddenly going to have the extra money to fork over for the fine or the insurance.

The true freeloaders; not those who carry their own burden, are still going to be freeloaders.

The old saying,"You can't get blood out of a turnip." still holds true.

The one thing I do see happening is that emergency rooms which now cater to the needy, will probably be overwhelmed because anyone who pays the tax/penalty will feel it's their right to get their money's worth back out of the system.

I do believe the premiums will go down as the states and companies adjust to the law. The companies freaked over the end of preexisting condition clauses and right to deny coverage, imo. Still I have seen the opposite effect. The biggest insurer out here hasn't increased prices much if any. The only change I noticed was that child only policies were eliminated (a preexisting condition effect) By requiring at least one parent, the company guarantees more premium.
