Do you think in states were insurance is the law it's a good idea to not have uninsured coverage ?

I would be terrified to drive in my state without uninsured coverage. There are tons of people driving without it and they will flee the scene or give false insurance numbers and info and leave you stuck with the bill.

I would expect both to pay for the damages. I don't agree with driving without insurance, but that doesn't mean everyone who drives uninsured is going to run after they get in an accident.

I'm sorry to tell you that most people whithout insurance run. I have experience with that, and so do a lot of people I know. Of my aquaintences and friends, I have heard of not one incident in which an unisured driver did not either flee the scene or provided false insurance policy information. Most of the people without insurance are deadbeats and don't care about the safety or wellbeing of others, only themselves.

This has nothing to do with health care. It has everything to do with health insurance.

Americans are going to get adequate health care. This bill wanted to force people to get health insurance making sure that insurance companies will have a stable income.
Well yes. Very good point Matthew. I prefer to handle my health care needs differently too, but I am still not concerned about this bill.

Calling someone a dead beat for not being able to afford car insurance or choosing to not have insurance is uncalled for. Also if it was legal to not have insurance I am willing to bet less people would run away instantly in fear of going to jail.

Also not having car insurance does not mean you do not care about the safety or well being of others. Cause car insurance does nothing to help with "safety" or does it help with the well being of others EXCEPT they might have a lower bill to pay to fix their car.

My state requires all policies include uninsured motorists coverage. That is the only reason I have it.

Matthew, you were complaining about auto insurance... You "expect both to pay." That goes against what you previously said. You are suggesting auto insurance was not needed, a government interference. If you aren't forced to pay why should you? Maybe I have one too many beers and plow into my neighbor... could I just say that I don't have insurance because it's "unconstitutional."

No, I don't think you believe that and I am not trying to be rude.. I just suspect you have not thought about the consequences of some of your statements.

Virginia doesn't require auto insurance, but the fee (or TAX) is $500 for not having it. You have the choice to drive without auto insurance if you pay the fee.

I am saying that if someone gets in an accident the person at fault should pay. Whether you have car insurance or not. If the person at fault chose to have car insurance he has to pay less out of pocket.
I do not know which statement contradicted the previous.

Ok, Matthew, I get you more now. My only problem with your comment is the ability of the person to pay. You might be living good, enough money to do whatever you want... but not everybody who drives can say the same thing. If I crashed into a 2012 Chevy corvette tomorrow because I was distracted and messed up I could not pay for it. I would say most all of us aren't in the position to fork over 80 grand on a single-second error. Just because you feel you are responsible isn't enough. Are you suggesting our entire society is prepared to deal with an error that leaves them out 100 grand? No, and that is why we have insurance.
