Seems to me that anyone that wants what other country's have can go there an get it. Big world lots of options. Why try to make everywhere the same..

The SCOTUS said it was a tax... taxes are collected by the IRS... there are laws giving the IRS the power to levy fines and seize assets for failure to pay/file.I agree with you. The IRS does not come after those without car insurance thats mandated...So why is healthcare so different then car insurance everyone is suppose to have it right?? I personally think this is a Government intrusion and that forcing someone who does not want something to me is not lawful. Whats next are they going to mandate that we can not farm or raise livestock? Healthcare the care itself is the best there is... its the fraud and abuse from docs and insurances and non insured that breaks it
This aspect of the law is not what is the main problem. I have been broke before it is not the end of the world in fact it is a great teacher. As for the whole "forced sterilization" thing; the US, and most of Europe has been there, and done that.

Yes Margaret Sanger was a proponent of Eugenics. So was the US government, and many state and local governments. This does not mean that Planned Parenthood, or the government currently espouse a program of eugenics.
Many provisions of the health care law have broad appeal: allowing students to stay on their parents programs (but parents must pay), getting rid of the no pre-existing provisions, having equal coverage state to state, etc.
My BIL had cancer, and had insurance through his former employer. If they found a reason to drop him, as many insurance companies do, he would not have been able to get covered by another company.
Serious illness bankrupts people. Even minor illnesses can be financially devastating for someone on the edge. If you are living paycheck to paycheck with no insurance, a broken arm can mean ending up homeless.
No one has a right to a service. My medical training is mine. I chose to treat people. No one has a right to make me.Healthcare is a right....to be cared for if youre sick everyone has the right to be treated...But those who free load do not have the right to take advantage of the system.
Albeit it is a little farfetched but it is possible that when someone challenges the law when the government begins collecting taxes/fines. If not the IRS then who wouild collect the tax? and it is a tax.As per usual, some (or most) of the comments made here continue to be a ridiculous and far fetched as the comments were before the Supreme Court ruling Ed, you in particular are making the most far fetched comments when you talk about a "so called tax" that in reality will affect less then 1% of the population and specifically has no means of enforcement as per the act itself. I know you are very well read so I must conclude that your statements are made only to incite nonsense.
However, as for Rebel Cowboy, your comments, for me, usually generate a laugh. However, your statement that "health care is not a right" is a sad truly commentary, especially when almost all first world, civilized countries do recognize health care as a necessary imperative and an absolute right. This has been the position of every President of this country since Harry Truman and every President of this country since Harry Truman has sought a way to make this right a reality. Every one of them failed until Obama was able to pass a very flawed but well meaning law. I really hope this never happens to you, but in keeping with your position, you could one day take your very sick child to a hospital and because you have had a streak of bad circumstances you were unable to pay a large sum of money in advance (they did not take your Confederate dollars) and then you were told to go home without treatment because your child's health care was not a right.
Perhaps in the State of NW Georgia you would be correct and even hailed as a hero.
PS: Rebel..in your last post you said "my medical training"..Please do not tell me you are a doctor that treats people.
