The Health Care Law.

People, a reproductive system is part of a human body. If you have insurance, it should cover all parts of your body. Before this law, 27 states already had laws requiring insurance companies to cover birth control. This is not a new idea.

Viagra is for restoring "normal function", supposedly; but wait, one of the normal effects of aging on men is erectile disfunction. We can't treat anything that disrupts a normal function, ie aging, so no get it up pills.

If I understand correctly, pregnancy should be covered because it is a normal function, but birth control shouldn't be because it is not normal. Strange argument. Virtually everything that a doctor treats is because a "not normal" condition arose. We don't go to the doctor because everything is working perfectly. Parasites are part of the "normal' human condition, but we all work to prevent them.

The argument that "sin" diseases shouldn't be covered also doesn't pass muster. If you say someone is not entitled to insurance coverage because of over eating, smoking, being lazy, then the opposite side of the coin should also be true. Every behavior caused stress fracture, ACL repair, concussion, pulled muscle due to exercise must be excluded too.

Bottom line for insurance companies, covering birth control is cheaper than covering pregnancies. Most companies prefer to cover the birth control.
If you want that type of coverage then pay for it yourself do not expect me or anyone else to pay for it. That would be reform having the ability to choose your coverage. Do you carry maternal coverage? of course not but you most likely are not trying to get pregnant.

What's the difference between the state having access to your records or the Federal Govt? What do you think electronic record access is about?
From my understanding, the Arizona bill will give any employer who doesn't want their insurance policy to include birth control options a way out by requiring the woman to provide proof of medical necessity. The bill goes so far as to protect the employers' right to fire a woman who uses insurance provided birth control unless medically necessary, i.e. legislation which clears the way for any employer to openly discuss a woman's most private medical records.

This example perfectly demonstrates why I side with the Democrats if I can't have a Libertarian government (truly free). This type of legislation makes me embarrassed to be affiliated with a party that pushes such stupidity. I am for the Libertarian faction of the gop, but my support of the gop ends at that point.

Yes they do, but I can substitute spermacides in if it makes you feel better chickened. ;) Point still stands.

I don't know where you are getting your information, Birth Control is not free to most ladies. Yes it is covered by insurance but we pay for it, We also have to pay our part as well. I know I did and know so does my GROWN 22 year old daughter. Who by the way pays all her own bills and does not live at home.
All types of birth control is for women... men do not get pregnant. If I get a vasectomy at my cost then my wifes' birth control was free to her. Most "unplanned" pregnancies are out of wedlock and spawned in an unstable environment incapable of properly supporting a child. Responsible people are not the current subject here. My clip clip was not covered by insurance by the way and I did not expect it to be.

Same thing nobody uses them, most married couples the man gets fixed. Of course you cannot require your date to get fixed... hmmm maybe that is the basis for the argument.

Birth control is a poster child argument used by the Dems aimed at the Republican it is relatively cheap and easily accessible and I feel women are being used as pawns by the Dems unknowingly when there are other procedures that are more costly that are denied pertaining to women's health. Say you win get BC coverage... whoopeee!! I just saved 50.00 a month. Get my drift?

And I suppose you are completely against abortion at all stages, as well as financial assistance for children living in poverty.....how about legal assistance to a women to prove rape or custody?

Why not just allow an insurance company pay for birth control? Do you even have a clue at the small cost you are talking about vs the huge expenses that occur for not easing access to birth control? Your personal convictions whether it be for moral reasons or greed are tiny when compared to the issue. Again it only highlights the stupidity of the gop's position in this situation.

You seem to think you are pretty smart, but your argument is about as logical as saying gas prices in the 80s were cheap so there is no reason we should pay high prices to drive today.

Of course we should try to change the trend of unplanned pregnancy, and the most logical part is making sure unplanned pregnancies don't happen by making birth control easily accessible. What do you propose? Arresting people for having sex without the intent of making a baby? Or do you honestly believe you just need to tell everyone to "keep their pants on" and the problem will be solved? You have avoided the issue that aggressive men are a part of the problem of unplanned pregnancy. What is your solution for that? Blame the women?

This issue is really one in which the Republicans are looking more irrational (kindly put) with each passing day.
I would just tell them to be responsible.

And Arizona's anti birth control bill would require women such as punk-a-doodle to prove to the employer that she needs birth control pills for medical purposes, i.e. turn over her medical records. That is just disgraceful. Republicans think they are for freedom and limited government? Its sick.
Seems harmless. I would like to know what things I pay for and provide for my employees is a legitimate need. Lots of things are disgraceful yet still we need to do them.

Birth control requires prescriptions and doctors visits. If you were arguing for OTC birth control pills instead of insurance coverage for the prescriptions and visits, I might agree with you.

$50 a month to a low or even middle income family is not a small bill. That same cost would be pennies to the insurance company, probably pennies a year because of pharmaceutical deals.

Your argument, Chickened, is illogical. Even if the gop win this argument, the consequences will be felt by everyone.

Won't do it for BC but gladly do it for a pot card... hmmm...
