Well, Royd, you are an older man. I have no idea, honestly, from the avatar(whether its you or not) and things I have heard I would guess you are between 66-78. You are getting ripe(no cruel intentions, I promise). What if you found out tomorrow you had pancreatic cancer or anal cancer? We have seen healthy celebs/people go at young ages.. late 40s and early 50s. It's really sad. We may be virtual opposites but I wouldn't want to see that happen to anyone.

If people walk into the hospital now with stab wounds, gunshots, whatever.. they are fixed. They could spend a week in the ICU. I had a friend pull a dumb stunt and landed himself in the ICU for 2 nights. It was over 60 thousand dollars. People are not denied now. We pay for that in overhead... you can keep your own plans. I guess I just don't get why people are so up in arms over this.

That's me and I'll be 59 in Sept.

As for people being upset about it, it's just about one more onerous intrusion into our private lifes by govt. bureaucrats.

As Neal Boortz says, The government is the only entity which can legally steal your stuff or your life at the point of a gun....You don't find the hiring of 16,000 more IRS agents disturbing?
Just look at the amount of money which will be needed to support the extra bureaucracy...Where is that money going to come from?

Let me guess...Those old folks really don't need new knees or hips, they'll never get full use of them and besides, they really aren't contributing to society any longer.

BTW what do you think the average salary of the IRS agents will be?

Some have said the law making more people buy insurance will bring down the cost of insurance and history doesn't show that to be true.

Here is something i heard today on the radio.

Each state is required to set up an "exchange" akin to a DMV by 2014 I believe. The states that have Republican Governors are saying they will not set up these exchanges. Now in theory under the law the feds have no legal ground to demand that the states set these up and the feds also have no power to withhold monies from the states that refuse to set up these exchanges because all the law surrounds the setting up of the exchanges.

Now this is in theory and legal experts say it will be the next big lawsuit that will make it to the SCOTUS.

I am a little uncomfortable with the idea of having my healthcare dispensed by the equivalent the DMV.

And if the employees have to take furlough days because the state is out of money, like happens here in CA, seems like that will limit access to heath care too.

I trust bureaucracies much less than insurance companies, but I would really rather pay the doctor!
