The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Hey Jim. I go to your site quite often to check for updates on these guys. I'm thrilled they are doing so well for you
Jim
I love posting updated pictures. I am so thrilled to have gotten in touch with you and that I had such wonderful luck with the hatch.
Thanks again soooo much
Jim

Here are some of my HRIR chicks. Some of the lighter color chicks are RSL's. It's hard to see in the picks the
the HRIR chicks beaks are darker on the tips.

Here they are a little older.

Yes, I'm hoping to get some new Mohawks at the Lake City, FL poultry show in January to add to my flock. I'll pick out the best to put in my breeding pen. I also have RC RIW's. I love them. I would like to get some RC HRIR's LF if there is such a thing. I'm not sure if they are Heritage too. I have seen bantams but an partial to large fowl. I have been breeding them for a couple of years. I think it will take 2 or 3 more years to get them to perfection.

Your birds sure are pretty. Did you end up showing any of them last month? I will be at the Lake City show, hope to see you there.

I have the 1 RC chick. He (I think it is a he) is bigger then the others and his chest is getting really big. I really like him and am hoping to get some more RC. He is the first RC I have ever had.

One of my Rose Comb RIW's won Best of Breed and Best Variety. My HRIR's placed but not as good. I don't think I'll take any birds to the Lake City show but will be showing at the Inverness show in February. The Lake City show is on Saturday and the awards on Sunday.

Were you able to get some input on your RIRs at the show? Lake City will be the first show I go to, not showing, just spectator. I am hoping to gain a wealth of info and hopefully get a chance to talk to some of the breeders for tips. I think seeing quality birds in person rather then just in pics will help me a lot with my breeding. Every little bit of info helps.

I got my first heritage large fowl standard bred ..sop..rhode island red ...egg today.....whoo hoo....as was just discussed she was much older than the hatchery production reds....at 8 months...as they started at 5 1/2 months...however her egg was not their typical pullet egg it was large 1 7/8 oz...now if the others will hurry up ..let the hatching begin...:)
