Just a few of my Nelson girls. These girls are absolutely the sweetest chickens that I've ever been around. They are sooo friendly. The boys are nice too but these girls are just something special. Check out the horn color on the beaks and front of legs and feet.
The first picture is a hen from dinahmoe 9 months, second picture is girls from NYREDS they are 2 months younger. 7 months. the third picture, the girl on the left is NYREDS,

Those are some beautiful birds! I like your coop also.

My chicks are 10 weeks old now so I thought I would post a few pics. They are feathering out nice and dark. Their personalities are awesome. I am really liking these chicks.

Your chicks are looking really nice..I hope mine turn out as nice.

How old were they when you could sex them? Did you have early clues in feathering? Feet size?

delisha, I am sure yours are going to be just as nice. I am so happy with these chicks that I have ordered more eggs.

As far as sexing goes, Tanker was obvious early on by his big legs/feet/toes and his personality. I just sent a bunch of pics to jimmy last night to get help sexing. I have a SC that acts very rooish and him and Tanker have been sparring since they were a couple weeks old But jimmy thinks other then Tanker, the rest of mine are pullets.

Wow Penny, that is nice to have so many pullets.. I told Jim I wanted more eggs too. Just not yet. 5 does not seem like enough. I think I have 4 males and one female. Not good odds.

delisha when I looked at your chick pics it looked to me like you had 2 roos and 3 pullets, lol. I guess time will tell. If my SC is a pullet then she is going to be the bossiest hen around and give Tanker a real run for his money, lol. I thought I had 2 possibly 3 roos, so having mostly pullets will be nice.

How are you at sexing your own chicks at three weeks?

Is there a reason to know at three weeks the sex?

I normaly wait till they are six to eight weeks old then the males combs stick out.
