My chickens eat ants as well as spiders; but, ours are not fire ants. We live in N.Ca. and do not have fire ants. Ours are busy all day long eating just about everything that they can swallow, and never have to worry about bugs, slugs and snails eating the vegetables or the fruit. Unfortunately, the the tiny, cute lizards are in the manue as well.Seems like this thread has sorta become quiet, must be mowing grass, baling hay etc. My question to throw out there is do your chickens like to eat fire ants, I have one that is obsessed with it, a strange sight to behold.
I like to watch mine fight over a small snake and of course mice
She scratches the nest with her feet, eats ants and eggs, scratches the ants off her face with her feet and goes again.I bet that is strange. Don't the ants bite her and stop her from eating them?

You could make a small fortune renting her out to folks with ant problems. Even better, get her to teach the other chickens how to eat ants. I sense a new business opportunity here...
