The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Looking for either RCRIR eggs or a RCRIR cockerel.
What line of RC's do you have? I could possibly help you out this fall but there is no way that I would send any eggs out right now as hot as it is and I surely would not even think of sending live birds from Pa. to Calif. in this heat. I think to much of my birds to have them sealed up in a box in 90 - 100 degree weather for that many hours. If you don't get any before fall, send me a PM and I'll let you know if I can help you out.
I've seen your post on here before for these and I felt kind of ignorant not answering knowing that I do have RC's. I have a couple of others already waiting for a few eggs/chicks later this fall but I would sure try to help you out if I can. I also know a couple that may be able to help you when the weather cools if I can't.

Quote: I thought that was him but I was not sure. He fooled me last year when I was looking at some of Matts Pictures that I took. If you look at his side profile look at his tail. On another forum under Rhode Island Reds they showed a old Schilling 1944 painting and that male. The point Matt was trying to make was the tails on some Reds in the USA. Some smart guy from down under said all you guys are breeding your tails to long in the USA. Not true. This is a perfect balanced tail to his length. So this last night and had to make a comments about it. I don't go to that forum anymore not educational if you get what I man.

I still thing this Roberts male and his line you all have is pure Reese. They look just like the old birds from 15 years ago and they should have come indirectly from this old line to him. He has one of the best backs I have seen on large Reds in years even to the end.

Thanks for the picture and the comments. bob

I have mostly SC descendants from the Reese line. I got some birds a couple of years ago from the show at Lake City Florida and last January I got some SC birds from Matt1616. I can wait until fall. I also have RCRIW. They have been placing well at the shows. BB and BV. The judges told me the legs needed to be a bit more yellow so I have been breeding my best yellow legs and the youngsters are looking very good. My breeds of choice are first RCHRIR and RCRIW, then SCHRIR and SCRIW. Most of my birds I have hatched out myself. My original birds came from breeders not hatchery. My original RCRIW's came from Jacksonville FL.

These are my RCRIW's they were hatched Feb 26th and March 5th. The legs are quite yellow even though it doesn't show as well in the pic.

I will have a few this fall... I estimate I have about 10 cockerels and am planning to just keep 2.
They were born on May 5th and came from Gary Underwood.
TN isn't exactly "close" to FL... but closer than a lot of states.

Quote: I have to downsize somewhat. I have way toooooo many birds right now. DH wants to take a trip somewhere but I have way to many birds to ask someone to care for while we are away. We did have a fellow that I trusted and knew he would do a good job but he died. Going to a swap next weekend with some birds and a local feed store said they would take some. These will be my culls.

Would someone be able to collect some pics of adult birds (best if male and female) for each of the lines everyone is talking about? I would love to learn about them all!

I think Matt1616 may have posted some pics of his boy that won grand champion at several shows. He is a descendant of the Reese line.
