Bill Ziehm has reported on the RIR Club Forum that I am going to be taking over as RIR Chronicle publisher. I would like to see those on this forum put some of their experiences and insights on Reds down on paper (epaper) so I can include them in the Chronicle. Congratulations Terry. I will send you a article that your requested a few weeks ago.

For you who have asked me about the R I Red Club which I was once the National President the key to a breed club is the editor of the Clubs News Letter. For way to many years this club has been inconsistent on this and we need to support Terry and make sure the issues he puts out has Substance to it. Some of the articles you can write is how you got started in Rhode Island Reds. Also, things you have learned or mistakes you have made but learned from them to share with beginners.

Terry hopefully, you can copy these pictures we have posted this year on this thread and use them in the Red Chronicle.

So boys and girls its time to save up your Quarters and send your dues to the National Sectary. I am sure as late in the year as we are if we send our dues in they will credit it for 2013 year. If Terry has the latest Red Chronicle in his computer he mights be able to email it to you to read even if you was not a member. For the Record Terry you can email my newsletter to me each time to save the club printing and postage which then will go into the club to run it.

Thanks again for coming forward to be a good Red Club member and preform the hardest task of any officer or Director in the club and that is producing the Quarterly news letter. bob

I won't be publishing a Chronicle till about February because of the club election. We are going to ask how many members would accept their Chronicle emailed instead of being snail mailed. It would save the club money.

Terry I saw some Rhode Island Red Large Fowl this weekend that you would die for. In fact after the show was over we had to come back and tear it down and I had the plesure of taking about five of these the next years future breeders outside and put them on grass in show pens till we got done cleaning the show floor area. Two males where something to hold and look at. One was the best half and half Mohawk of the year and his leg color was horn colored like I have never seen on a Red in my life. Dark Quill color and he was heavy. The females had feather Quality like I never saw untill about 15 years of breeding my old strain. They had back feathers so well webbed they looked like Old English Game feathers. All of these are the old Mohawk line that I once owned and was exibited by Matt 1616. Matt and I where talking about what male needs to be with what female in the half and half cross its going to be excitting to see next years chicks and see the improvement. At least we wont have to worry about inbreeding for another 15 years and with all the people who have these birds allready around we can alway exchange eggs or chicks with each other every five to ten years for fresh new blood.

LOL, You sound just like me. I always say I wish that I would have thought about doing this about 20 years ago. I've always had chickens but just decided 2 years ago to get into the real RIR's.

You are never to old to get some good Reds. The secret is to get the ones that are the top of their competition.

Why get birds that would score say 93 or 94 points when someone has a strain that is 95 points. Even his scrubs will be great birds to own and start a new line with.

I had a guy call me today who does not want to show his birds but just have some nice true to breed stock.

I suggested Mr. XYZ strain for him. Even his worst birds would be great birds to own and try to maintain and maybe improve.

Remember Col Sanders started his Friend Chicken Franchise when he was in his mid 60s. Then in about ten years he was the big dog in the Chicken world of fast food joints.

Thank goodness we have some good strains around to locate to purchase and enjoy.
