By the way Jim.....do you have any other breeds now other than your Reds? I'm seriously considering cutting back on some different breeds I have and concentrating on my Reds. I think that I might dump my NH's and my BR's and a bunch of these bantams I have.

None that I'm planning on breeding/working with. I ate the JWhip BR rooster one hen died and the other one is still here and hardly ever lays an egg. Every one of the GNH cock birds had white in their tails, I butchered them last winter. I still have 2 of the hens. They are in the layer flock. As the layer flock die off, I will have nothing but RIR's in there. Gosh, I have Matt's, Underwood (SC and RC) and Nelson reds so I really can't fool around with any other breeds. lol I am so completely satisfied with the birds that I have now, all I have to do is work to keep them up to what they are to be. The worst job I'm having right now is teaching the ones from Matt to speak English. ha,ha,ha.

Jim maybe if you threaten to cut off those extra toes they will learn English sooner.....or maybe get rid of some of the extra heads.LOL

Well that ends that still plenty of good birds out there to order next year so don't loose any sleep over this. get some and play with them and you can always go with another line this spring. Jimmy has many strains and studies them and he will one day decide what he will end up keeping. It depends on what you goals are. If you don't plan to show them it don't make much difference in my view. If you do you better get the best you can find or you will get your butt kicked when you go to certain shows.

You better all look out if I ever decide to retire. I will load up my chickens, some feed and travel to all the shows and boy will I be a butt kicken chicken hauling fool. ha,ha,ha,ha. The first place I will head is down south (Ala and La). Got to take on S Gribble, Matt, and Chris. Then maybe I'll head to Ar to get after Ron. Hey, you guys can sleep well. That day will never happen. The folks that I take care of are younger then I am.

Okay Jeff, The picture of that cock bird was posted in post 2610 of this forum by R & R Waterfowl I went on my face book page because Ryan and I are friends on there and this cock bird belonged to him. He is in Calif so I doubt if it was Horstman. For the hen, she was posted in post 2120 by Fred but just as an example. I will surely try to find who she belongs to before I go to bed. lol

I hatched Horstman SC RIR here in California. Debs_flock won with one at a Poultry show out here too. Dick ships chicks out this way too.

I was offered a lot by a guy who bought some of my Heritage Delawares. But he's my only cockerel right now. Going to drive to Ron's, From SC to AR to get a few more cockerels in a month or two.

Also will be ready then for my RC RIRs . Either eggs or chicks. I am in Northern MI but can drive to western PA, as well as through much of Ohio.
