The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Sorry, really sorry to hear that.

I can tell you that Dinahmoe has awesome birds. Since the listing is pretty old, you could try to make contact and see what "inventory" is still available. Pretty sure those were Nelson line birds, IIRC Pretty sure that's was 1/2 of Jim's Nelson line equation.
Yeah it's Don Nelson line, nice looking too. I don't know how old the auction was I think it may have been on the third page. Everytime I tried to pull it up to look for the date it locked up.

It started back in May. Direct contact would be about the best way to find out. Maybe someone here is a friend and has personal info. Hate to hear such news. Our prayers are with the family.

Jim has birds out of that line, as my bird I showed earlier is as well. Awesome birds. I'd love to have a few more when my old buddy over there in Stiller country re-gains his traction.

You should be getting some before this time next year. lol I'm setting 10 more in the bator tonight. Hatched 4 out of 4 eggs Wednesday but 1 died for some unknown reason before I got it out of the hatcher. Never hat that happen before. I'm not planning on placing anymore of these other then you till I get my little flock built back up;. This summer played havoc on lots of my large birds. I knew Gloria was really cutting back on her birds. She had to many irons in the fire. lol And I am watching the Steelers right now. ha,ha I have a TV Tuner in my computer so I can watch the game while writing you. Got TV going on in one corner of the monitor, email in another and BYC forum in the middle. See Fred, I can do more then one thing at a time. lol

Pertaining to my Nelson line birds. I had gotten eggs from a BYC member early last year dinahmoe on here who had gotten her birds from David Bosworth who got his directly from Don Nelson. He is the guy from Mass that Bob talked about some time ago. Then I got eggs from William Post (NYREDS) BYC, I used my cock bird that had the widest back and long keel and crossed him with these hens. It seems that the young boy on the picture is going to have pretty nice type to him with the back width. I have another boy just a couple of weeks younger that is very nice. No pictures yet. The hens that I used all have nice length to the body, nice tail spread, wide heads and very nice size. The ones from Bill have super nice color to the tails. I'm hoping to have some really nice young birds to work with next year in this line.
Bob, I think you are right that Don gave all his LF to someone else to work with. My understanding is that he kept just a few bantams for his granddaughter to work with. I think I read this on another forum some time ago. These have been really good layers since January. I lost two of my big hens this summer to the heat so I'm really down on them also but have a few young girls growing out that are looking really nice. Will post a pic or two of them a little later down the road or post them on my site. lol Sometimes I get pretty busy and just forget about updating things.
Anyway, that is the story of my Nelson birds. lol

Actually Don kept the bantams and a few large fowl for his Granddaughter.
Saw in another post where you're located. I was in Pittsburgh last weekend. Wish I'd known then. Next time I go down I'll contact you ahead of time & see about stopping by.

LOL had that backwards didn't I. That would be fine on my end Bill. I'm about 65 miles from the Pitts airport.

Hi, I am so pleased to say I got just the birds I was looking for from Steven in Georgia (I'm not sucking up to him haha, I know he reads this site). After identifying what I wanted et al, he helped me get the best selection available. Steven is a good guy and I look forward to a long working relationship. I am not sure if people know how valuable this site is in providing information, contacts, advice, pictures and about anything else one could gain from the internet. Thank you Bob for your articles, feedback and suggestions that helped me along. I have a cockerel and 3 pullets that are fine animals. My intention is to reduce my flock of layers and concentrate on raising the best birds I can toward the SOP. Just thought I would share my joy with you and the readers on this site.
