The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

The color of some of the more beautifully dark shaded birds is what I working toward with one of my NN SOP projects more or less ochsenblut.

I have one NN cockerel and four hens that have the color but all lack type. I did have a couple RIR birds, essentially bought from a well known breeder but he thinks I'm wealthy because of the career I'm retired from and he decided to double the price.

In any event...still looking for some quality genetics to work with.

For any naysayers, consider that all breeds of poultry, including every Heritage breed are the result of various amalgamations.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hellbender (and any others), I raised up way more RIR pullets than I want to keep and am offering some for sale, as well as an extra cockerel. Mine are the Reese/Mohawk line, from Matt1616, very nice birds. Will try to get some updated photos soon. These were all hatched last spring, so keep in mind shipping would cost more than the bird....PM me if interested.

Do you have picks of the birds you intend to sell

No, but I can take some in the next few days.

Are you NPIP by chance? I'm still in search of a pair or trio, but am patient. I only want to start over one time, haha. I was had on ebay and bought supposed Reese/Mohawk eggs, they even look like bantams, and nothing near what you all are showing on this forum. These are what we ended up with.
