very nice. I like the sliding door too. I have tried 3 other kinds of hinged doors. Swing open from the left or right, Swing up to open and even a hinged top. The swing up to open are my least favorite.

I didn't know for sure how I wanted to do the door because I thought I may add an 8 x 8 run on this and raise the coop up and if so then I would put the hinged door to open down and they can use it for a plank to walk up and down. lol Trying to think ahead.

That is what I did on mine is make the door a ramp. The chicks eventually figure it out and they are in and out.

Two week old Mohawks with a few older silkies





Not the best photos, but I wanted to share. I'm really pleased with them so far. They seem to be really solid, vigorous little guys. I just have to tell myself to be patient and not try to judge every little aspect of them for a LONG time. If I wasn't so intent on watching them grow, I'd put them with my other birds for the next ten months and not look at them until then.

You have a very nice start!

Most birds of any age don't like to pose. It is very difficult for me to get nice pictures too.

Well Fred took my incubator and checked it out as to why I lost everything I tried to incubate.
Seems the thermometer was WAY off! Ten Nelson eggs lost to it!!! He brought my Nelson Pullet home to me but it is late in the year here now. She hasn't lain since being home. Few days adjustment again. If she lays I will think about trying to hatch a couple from her and see if they feather out by the time it gets cold again. This put my breeding a year behind! Had wanted to go into winter with 10 or so Nelson pullets to select from for next years breeding!

Fred got me a proper gauge so when we meet next week I'll get the incubator back and pay for the gauge. Next year breeding season look out!!!! Going into full time Nelson chicks on the ground and by fall a huge culling. With only the pair of Nelsons I really need a lot of young feet on the ground.

2 or three Kittle cockerels he hatched for me before I got the incubator will hit freezer camp this Sept. The 1 or 2 Pullets of the hatch will graduate to the large coop for winter using the breeding pen if they need to.

Wondering how many of my Nelson eggs I sent with Fred will be able to hit the ground here. So anxious to build up my Nelsons so I can begin selections next year.

Very very heartbroken over hatching this year. Out of three dozen I really only have one chick. Not the senders fault at all. They were packed beautifully. The USPS pretty much scrambled them. I got one chick out of the first dozen. The other eggs either never developed or quit a week before hatch I think due to the horrible air cell damage. Got another two dozen sent and knew right away I was not going to get much. All the air cells were detached. Had some that were pretty porous. At 14 days only four tried to develop. Im down to two now. I saw movement tonight but worry bout hatch. The air cells are so disfigured its amazing. Looks like a roller coaster track lol. Gonna have to cut my losses this year and hope I can just buy chicks next year. Crossing my fingers the one chick I have hatched is a roo.

That all sounds like Mail Order egg's alright good to see you are not slamming the seller as I have seen so many buyers on e-bay do

Took me several try's before getting a good batch of egg's but I did think it was me for a wile but then after talking to many people decided Mail Order egg's are just a gamble one takes ....

Buy chicks or started birds and you won't have to worry about these things...
