cmom,
I like that iron, I was always going to have one made but we really never had a use for one.
Besides poultry we raise Dairy Goats and Sheep so we tag and tattoo everything here.

My opinion does count much but I like that idea of the tattoo on the web

Scott

It's saved my butt once at a county show I was at.
Someone cut the wing and leg bands of a bird I had there and calmed it was theres,,,,,,,,, well until I showed them tattoo.
I had not only had the wing and leg band number on the entry form but I also had the tattoo number on there also.

  • Irishhenman;
  • I don't know the UK standard on Red's but I can go by the APA Standard and like before it is real hard to judge a bird by a photo.
  • You have a nice Red, he looks to have good neck, head and eyes nice beak coloring and good yellow legs. The black in his tail looks good though he looks to have some red in the black at the base of the tail (need to watch that), he also looks to have a nice wide and flat back.
  • He could use a little longer back, fuller tail (looks like someone cut the lower 3/4's of the tail short) and a little less tail angle (more tail may fix this). He needs more depth of color and to carry the wings more parallel to the ground, I would also like to see some red in his shanks.
  • On a side note, keep a eye on those feathers they look rough kind of like he me have other bird pecking at them. If your birds are feather pecking check for mites and lice if there clean then check that there getting plenty of animal proteins in there diet, chickens are omnivores and if they don't get enough animal proteins they will start pecking/ eating feathers..

It is the original iron. It hasn't been used in a very long time. I had my dogs tattooed on their lower part of their belly many years ago.
