The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

Kevin closed his eyes as they were sent to his house, arriving in his driveway. He kept his eyes closed for a moment, savoring the familiar smell. Apples and pine trees, with a tiny dash of cow manure mixed into the crystal clear air. A small shiver ran down his spine as the cold midnight air blew in his face and through his hair. Home sweet home.
He opened his eyes, heading up the small steps on the porch. He opened the door, which had been unlocked all this time, and entered the house. Inside had a subtle cinnamon smell, mixed with a few other nice smells. “Come on in. Make yourselves at home,” Kevin said, flicking on the lights. He gently sat his gun on the mantle above the fireplace, taking a step back to examine it. He turned, glancing at the gathering crowd. “You’re probably cold. I’ll go make a fire.” With that, he went back outside to collect some wood from the large pile on the side of his house. Coming back in, he threw the wood in the fireplace and lit it, watching the flames burst brighter.
He brushed his hands off, looking at Aria. “Thank you, Ari,” he said. “There are bedrooms upstairs, and a couple bathrooms. I’m sure you all are tired and would like to get cleaned up.” He said, pointing in the direction of the rooms.
As Carson came back downstairs with a squirrel, Kevin frowned. He wasn’t particularly fond of having animals, especially pests, in his house, unless they were his cats. The only reason the chickens were with him was because he didn’t have time to put them in the quarantine coop yet. He was surprised the squirrel was even awake, seeing how late it was.
He turned away. This is going to be fun. He thought.

“Uhhh... I don’t know. For now you’ll have to wear what you’re wearing, unless you want to borrow my clothes. I might have some spare clothes my family left here, I‘ll go look. I’ll go into town to pick something up for everyone tomorrow.” He said. “As for rooms, you’ll have to double up. Women with women, men with men, in case that wasn’t obvious. It’s your choice whether you want to sleep on the ground, or if you feel comfortable sharing a bed.”

Kevin looked down at Aria. “Are you sure? I don’t want you to freeze out here. Maybe you should come in and lie down.”
Lilith slunk in after him with Torin and Tru by her side, breathing in the cinnamon smell with a smile as she glanced around. It reminded her a lot of her childhood home before the accident, big and spacious with sweet smells and a farmhouse style, back when her family still had her father's income as a doctor and her mother's as an editor.
When he mentioned baths and bedrooms, she realized just how tired she was, and how much she wanted to brush and cut her now longer and a bit tangled hair, and a bath wouldn't serve her or Tru badly.
She nodded to his words about doubling up, wondering who'd she'd have to share a room with, and hoped it was someone she was closer to, like Aria or Eve or Hana.
She looked around, not sure where to go. "Uh, Kevin, um, sorry to ask, but do you have a hairbrush and scissors?"
“Yeah I just have to recharge so no teleporting for a few hours while I regenerate. It’s not the easiest thing in the world, it’s hardest for me to teleport that many people. Usually I only take myself or one maybe two other people with me” she turned giving him a weak smile
Kylan nodded, giving a smile watching as Kevin walked her up the stairs, he himself walking inside and rest a hand on Torin's shoulder after picking up his scythe.

“No I just think I will clean up and then sleep for a bit” Aria smiled “thanks for offering though”

Kevin nodded. “Come get me if you need anything, m’kay?” He said, walking out of the room and closing the door behind him.

He walked downstairs, looking at Lilith when she spoke to him. “Yes. Go upstairs and take a left down the hall. Go into the first door on the left. There should be scissors and a hairbrush on the sink in the bathroom.” He said, pointing upstairs.

Oh. Cam could imagine herself quickly becoming a financial burden for poor Kevin. She reached into the bag that she had slung over her shoulder and fingered the small leather bag she had brought along.
“Banks accept precious metals -I mean, gold- in Russia, right?” she asked.

A very stupefied Ciro was aware of the fact that they'd just all been manually teleported by Aria and not much else. "Your house is magnificent, Kevin," he began hesitantly from where he lingered at the doorway, proud that he'd been able to infer even that from what little he was given to work with. "But I'm getting the feeling that we missed something."

“Okay” Aria walked into the bathroom staring at her reflection. She was covered in dried mud and scratches and sores covered her legs. She looked at her hair which was mattered with dried blood and dirt. “Bleh. Definitely have scars to show where I got attacked with that stinger thorn thing” she looked at her arm where a large scar was. Aria sighed before looking through the cabinets for some soap and some shampoo and conditioner. About 15 minutes later Aria had had a shower and changed back into the clothes. And she now was laying in the bed drifting off to sleep.

I’ll go into town to pick something up for everyone tomorrow.
Oh. Cam could imagine herself quickly becoming a financial burden for poor Kevin. She reached into the bag that she had slung over her shoulder and fingered the small leather bag she had brought along.
“Banks accept precious metals -I mean, gold- in Russia, right?” she asked.

Kevin thought about it for a moment. “I... I don’t know. I’ve never tried,” he said. “If you’re worried about money, don’t. I will happily get anything any of you need while here.”

“Thank you!” He said, smiling at Ciro. His smile disappeared as he looked around. “What do you mean? What are we forgetting?” He asked.

Hana didn’t know what to expect when the group was teleported to Kevin’s home in Russia. She was completely clueless to how the country was like, and only briefly knew of its history. So she was completely open-minded to this new experience. Letting go of Eve’s and Blair’s hands, she followed Kevin into his massive family home, a home that looked like it had been there for generations. Which sounded like her grandfathers home that could accommodate plenty of relatives. It was basically like a bed and breakfast there. She made sure to remove her footwear by the entrance before going further into the home. Hana climbed the stairs, curiously observing each cozy bedroom like she was Goldilocks. The house definitely had a snug charm, and seemed to be lonely for how long it remained vacant.

Kevin thought about it for a moment. “I... I don’t know. I’ve never tried,” he said. “If you’re worried about money, don’t. I will happily get anything any of you need while here.”

“Thank you!” He said, smiling at Ciro. His smile disappeared as he looked around. “What do you mean? What are we forgetting?” He asked.
"I- uh, one moment, Aella and I were stepping from Borealis into Misery, but then Aria shot us all over here." Ciro's hand traveled to the back of his neck before he could fight it with his established insistence upon breaking that nervous habit. "Not that I'm complaining. But it just wasn't really expected, you know?"

“Aww, come on, you are the host. And the healer. You deserve this more than anyone else,” Cam said, lifting out the bag of coins and shaking it. If she did kind of want something to show for all her heroic effort, you wouldn’t be able to tell from her expression. Even if she sort of selfishly hoped inside that Kevin would deny the gift.

Meanwhile, Nat couldn't quite compute the fact that she was stuck in this dress for an indefinite while longer and smushed her face into the nearest wall with a long-suffering groan. Today just hadn't been her day.

Colby was rocketing from room to room, practically powered by motors and springs. As he went, his excitement had him rambling incessantly, and though it was mostly to Kevin, he was almost never near enough to Kevin to even be heard by said Kevin. "Kevin, your place is so cool!" he exclaimed while sizing up the lofty ceiling. "How come you haven't told us more about it?" he queried as he perused the halls and their artistic furnishings. "Can I help you with your barn chores?" he offered hopefully as he looked out a local picture window without pressing his nose to it and smudging the glass. "How many animals do you have?"
