Kevin closed his eyes as they were sent to his house, arriving in his driveway. He kept his eyes closed for a moment, savoring the familiar smell. Apples and pine trees, with a tiny dash of cow manure mixed into the crystal clear air. A small shiver ran down his spine as the cold midnight air blew in his face and through his hair. Home sweet home.
He opened his eyes, heading up the small steps on the porch. He opened the door, which had been unlocked all this time, and entered the house. Inside had a subtle cinnamon smell, mixed with a few other nice smells. “Come on in. Make yourselves at home,” Kevin said, flicking on the lights. He gently sat his gun on the mantle above the fireplace, taking a step back to examine it. He turned, glancing at the gathering crowd. “You’re probably cold. I’ll go make a fire.” With that, he went back outside to collect some wood from the large pile on the side of his house. Coming back in, he threw the wood in the fireplace and lit it, watching the flames burst brighter.
He brushed his hands off, looking at Aria. “Thank you, Ari,” he said. “There are bedrooms upstairs, and a couple bathrooms. I’m sure you all are tired and would like to get cleaned up.” He said, pointing in the direction of the rooms.
Lilith slunk in after him with Torin and Tru by her side, breathing in the cinnamon smell with a smile as she glanced around. It reminded her a lot of her childhood home before the accident, big and spacious with sweet smells and a farmhouse style, back when her family still had her father's income as a doctor and her mother's as an editor. As Carson came back downstairs with a squirrel, Kevin frowned. He wasn’t particularly fond of having animals, especially pests, in his house, unless they were his cats. The only reason the chickens were with him was because he didn’t have time to put them in the quarantine coop yet. He was surprised the squirrel was even awake, seeing how late it was.
He turned away. This is going to be fun. He thought.
“Uhhh... I don’t know. For now you’ll have to wear what you’re wearing, unless you want to borrow my clothes. I might have some spare clothes my family left here, I‘ll go look. I’ll go into town to pick something up for everyone tomorrow.” He said. “As for rooms, you’ll have to double up. Women with women, men with men, in case that wasn’t obvious. It’s your choice whether you want to sleep on the ground, or if you feel comfortable sharing a bed.”
Kevin looked down at Aria. “Are you sure? I don’t want you to freeze out here. Maybe you should come in and lie down.”
When he mentioned baths and bedrooms, she realized just how tired she was, and how much she wanted to brush and cut her now longer and a bit tangled hair, and a bath wouldn't serve her or Tru badly.
She nodded to his words about doubling up, wondering who'd she'd have to share a room with, and hoped it was someone she was closer to, like Aria or Eve or Hana.
She looked around, not sure where to go. "Uh, Kevin, um, sorry to ask, but do you have a hairbrush and scissors?"
Kylan nodded, giving a smile watching as Kevin walked her up the stairs, he himself walking inside and rest a hand on Torin's shoulder after picking up his scythe.“Yeah I just have to recharge so no teleporting for a few hours while I regenerate. It’s not the easiest thing in the world, it’s hardest for me to teleport that many people. Usually I only take myself or one maybe two other people with me” she turned giving him a weak smile
