When I go through dead outs with new beekeepers this is what I most likely find. Followed by starvation and queen events.

That's good, and if you wash the dead bees and come up with 1 or 2 mites you did the best you could. Some dead outs are just head scratchers. Kind of like a kid winning a goldfish at the fair and it's belly up the next morning.

If it gets warm enough I will. However, I have ordered two packages already.

I am thinking I need to treat for mites in the winter. Maybe around the first of the year.

I usually treat right before I winterize. I'm not sure if that's the best way, it's just what I do.

This year I treated in November and in early March . They say it is more effective during a break in brood rearing .

I saw no evidence of mites and did not treat for them. Lots and lots of bees this spring.

I am feeding since nothing is in bloom.
