The hunting/fishing thread!

Whatever you get I would not buy used. Boats can be a pain in the butt when they aren't working right and buying someone else’s problem just invites trouble.
Personally, is stay away from Mercury engines. I've towed more of them back to the launch than I can remember.
Something with a live well would be nice and make sure the storage is long enough to hold your rods, many aren't.
Used boats have cost me a small fortune, even after I had them surveyed and inspected.

Btw. I have a great boat for sale!!

mine is a merc and 10 years it’s been almost as reliable as the duramax so i guess i got lucky!

If you're going to be spending all day on the water have you considered a pontoon boat?

my current fishing boat 🤣🤣

I can't recommend any name brands for you. I'm into pirate ships not bass boats. 🤣
I know I would be perfectly satisfied with about a 17’ flat bottom Bass Tracker, if they even make those anymore. I grew up fishing out of Jon boats so I'm not too picky.
The only thing I can recommend is to know what your fishing needs are and then buy accordingly.

Jugs and rod and reel.....I’ve never been a big fan of trot lines or limb lines/yo-yos
Yo-yos suck. I've tried them and found them very unreliable. We just use a suitable Willow limb.
Jugs, and trot lines are illegal up here.
Not here. It's the way most people fish for catfish, if you live on the river. I used to take my kayak out, bait the lines, then do some flyfishing on my way back to the houseboat. Late in the evenings we would then take a flat bottom out to get the cats.
