The hunting/fishing thread!

Yo-yos suck. I've tried them and found them very unreliable. We just use a suitable Willow limb.

Not here. It's the way most people fish for catfish, if you live on the river. I used to take my kayak out, bait the lines, then do some flyfishing on my way back to the houseboat. Late in the evenings we would then take a flat bottom out to get the cats.
Yeah my jug/noodle fishing is what got the jaws controversy started 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I did not know this thread was here.

If the WW had not fell ill I would be fishing right now.

I have all my fishing gear into one chest that won’t take up too much space. Those darn tip-ups take up so much space. You do know what they are don’t you?

Of course, my drill, batteries, ice spikes, ice anchors and the buckets didn’t fit in the case.

These are tip ups.
And how they work. They are like high tech willow branches.

I make little boxes for each one otherwise the lines get tangled and they are terrible to straighten out in -20 degrees.

We are only allowed only 2 lines during the winter and one during the summer.

Normally, I use one tip up and one panfish line. However, if the northern bite is heavy I use two tip ups.

Now back in my misspent youth I did jug fish once. (STatute of limitations are wasaay expired)

A friend lead me to commit this crime. We threw out about a dozen jugs with sucker minnow on each one. Then proceeded to see if we could actually drink a couple of cases of Hamm’s.

It was really fun as I recall, the bottles would disappear and take off down the lake with us in hot pursuit. We ate well for a few days. The limit back then was 3 northerns. Today it’s a slot limit but we can keep 10.

If you’re ever down this far south, I’ll have to take you jug fishing!!!! It’s probably changed a bit since you tried it with the exception of the beverage choice 🤣🤣🤣🤣
