what types of traps do you consider "humane"
any trap that are government allows. they are tested and deemed legal. (changes with each province a bit) like Saskatchewan allows cougars and bears to be trapped in certain zones.

for starters i use rubber padded traps for coyotes, lynx and wolf. and i have put my hand many times in them. and am going to be 100% honest a rat trap hurts more.

for body grippers (or coni-bears) that kill the animal you have to use the right size and they hurt a ton if they slap you (i might of joined the 220 club while badger trapping just lucky i did not break anything)

Interesting info on the traps.

But how are rubber coated jaws humane? I would think a killing set would be more humane. (For water animals, mink, beaver, muskrats etc.)

good question, i started trapping to protect my chickens and ducks, mainly weasels and coons.

i don't trap for profit really, more for controlling certain species that are overabundant. if a get a few dollars that's fine by me. but if i get to many beavers in my creek they take a toll on the trees. i have otters in the creek as well but i like them so i try to avoid catching them at all costs.

for food, only have eaten beaver before, there pretty good. i would not hesitate to eat them.
