The hunting/fishing thread!

We are going to a turkey shoot tomorrow. I know that's not hunting but hopefully I can hit the target and bring home thanksgiving dinner. I do better when my targets don't move😊 I did have to explain what a turkey shoot was to my 10 year old. He thought they released turkeys and we had to shoot them! Time for hubby to take him true hunting

Time to recap this mornings hunt.

This is almost unbelievable, but then I am just that good.

There was a dusting of snow last night..

it was a fairly quiet start to the day.

I did not see a single deer. A bunch of crows eating the guts from my last deer.

then off to my left I saw 9 deer in a group.

they were tightly clustered. The does were on my side of the buck. There was no way to get the buck without hitting the does. There were some fawns mixed in, but I didn’t want them. I am no baby killer.

I had to use my wits and patience to get the buck.

I looked around to see how I could do this.

Then I saw my way to huge rack stew.

As a side note every large rack or big fish I get disappears. The WW has refused to hang ā€œdead fishā€ or ā€œAnimal partsā€ as she calls them in the house. I knew this one would be different, I would mount it and hang it without her knowing about it. The rack was so huge it was worth risking a costly life altering divorce.

But first I needed to get him.

My stand faces south the buck was facing south almost directly east of me..

There is a large double split oak and behind that is a large flat rock.

all I had to do was go between the trunks of the oak and ricochet off the rock.

Now here is where it got tricky. I could send the lead eastward off the rock. After all we all know how to shot off a rock to get our game, right?

However, as Lady Luck was shining on me, I saw a large round rock east of the flat rock. I know for many of you ricocheting off a round rock and hitting your target is impossible.

But I can do it, I am just that good. So I lined up to take the shot and it started snowing. So I adjusted slightly to the west to make up for the change in the coefficient of friction on the round rock.

I squeezed off the round and the buck dropped, excuse the pun, like a rock.

I was so good the does didn’t even move until I yelled at them to leave, in case I needed to finish the buck off. It wasn’t necessary the buck was drop dead stone dead. (Another clever pun).

I got him… but I left out the hardest part. I was bare arse naked below the waist. I was heeding a nature call when the deer appeared. So I did all this with my orange bibs wrapped around my boots.

Which makes it quite a feat even for me…and it only happened,, Cause I am just that good.

Ok, so, just found out that the turkey shoot we were going to go to is not a real turkey shoot. This one is where you shoot pictures of turkeys or pigs, with a bb gun, drawn on drywall! 🤦 Yeah, not going anymore
