I ran into a guy that hunts the property next to us. He showed me pics of a palmated 12pt that looks very similar to that 8pt. He is a mainframe 10pt and both G2s are split like a Y. I would love to shoot any of them. Heck, I get excited when I shoot a spike. I'm a meat hunter first and foremost, the antlers are just a bonus...

Feb 10th. I've always had the best luck from Jan 20th through the first week of Feb.

Your season is very much like west Florida. Florida has three hunting seasons, one for south Florida, one for central Florida, and a third for west Florida. I am in far north central. The whitetail breeding cycles vary. West Florida follow’s yours with a late winter rut. Central Florida ruts in the fall. South Florida ruts in late spring and early summer.
 
We finally got enough snow to do some tracking. It was 3 to 2 for the good guys today. One other got past us after a long track. It was his lucky day.
