.........Maybe we could start a new thread for those who would like information on getting the chocolates into the APA SOP? Just a thought

Anywho, caught one of the hens gettin down and dirty yesterday

She seemed a little appalled that I would be taking her picture while she was dust bathing

Alright then. Let's get things back on track with more pics of these marvelously colored partridge. :) I imagine that your young hatched from the imported eggs are too young to be anything but cute right now but eventually they too will be picture worthy. Hope you'll share them. Am real interested in seeing Sandy's creles. Color may not be quite right but it's the type that interests me. Can't remember if you said there were cuckoos as well? That hatch must make for the most interesting bunch to watch grow out.

Just to break up the conversation a bit, my chicks ship today from Jordon Farms!!!!

Good luck! I hope they shipped day-olds this time so they survive the trip. Expect them to get hung up in Tallahassee, especially with the hurricane probably delaying flights.

Funny you should mention Sandy's creles.......

....... Actually I thought the color would breed more true but there was a very wide variety of color that hatched from the crele eggs, from lovely crele color to blk/white mottled and even lavender type mottled???? I realize they are still chicks and maybe the color will change but there is still a big variety, very interesting.

I will try to get some pics of the color variation in the creles. Of course the type is very nice, color variation is a little odd.

I did get Cuckoo but some of those are solid black (and lavender cuckoo). I had asked Sandy about the black and she said there was a black hen in with the cuckoos which would be where the solids came from. My question is will the blacks carry the cuckoo gene - need to make sure they are used correctly if that is the case and not used in someones black breeding program.........

Right now the whites and jubilees are the biggest and fluffiest out of all the chicks. The lavenders are the smallest and slowest to develop. The rest are kind of in the middle somewhere. All are just plain cute

If i'm not wrong, there's no such thing as a bird being split for cuckoo. They are cuckoo or not.
I could be wrong but that's what I remember from what Bob Folows said about cuckoo.

Why would they get hung up in Tallahassee when the farm is in Georgia I do believe. And they are actually 7-8 week olds. So looking forward to them.

Ha, I see now.
