One should also keep in mind... too much oil in the diet can cause a fatty liver. Soo keep those diets balanced or you could wind up doing more harm than good.

Monty is a very big young boy, and he stays in with the 8 pullets in his harem. Good feather quality, no crowding, and a polite rooster, are the reasons the girls keep their feathers.Do you keep the roo with them all the time? How do you keep their backs so nice? They're so cute.
i do the same with chickweed Vickie..i have it everywhere , but they gobble it as fast as it grows...im just opening up more pasture for the orps..they graze like cattle..it does reduce the bill too...your birds are amazing! rich buttery even tones..All my critters do.The kale, turnip greens, rye, and oats are now up for their winter grazing too. Crimson clover comes up in the early spring. I actually fertilize chickweed. They love it, and have good foraging year round. Saves a lot of $ on feed too!
You have to have a broom to get to the eye of newt store!Vickie I couldn't help but laugh when I read this
And my recipe is......Bugs, sunflower seeds, and eye of newt!
Made me think Of Granny Clampet on the Beverly Hillbillies. She was always using eye of newt in her recipes.![]()
I almost bought some sunflower seed day before yesterday. I have used them before. The Black oil kind. When your saying bugs your meaning just free range foraging?
Where do you get the Eye of Newt?
bubble, bubble, toil, and trouble!- That is the chant the witch uses as she adds the eye of newt. And my recipe is......Bugs, sunflower seeds, and eye of newt!
Beautiful Buffs Vickie. I hope I get to see a lot of them at shows I attend this year. '' Thanks for all the compliments. Irene i am so happy your pleased with your soap. My family thinks the same thing. Hopefull I can make some more next week. For all of you who live in Fl, Al, Ga areas , Ms. too, There is going to be a Show in Pensacola,Fl Dec 8. I know Matt Ulrich who has some really beautiful Buffs will be a part of the show and showing. I am planning on going and if I have anything with feathers by then or any pullets that look okay I may show one or two. I may show a Choc bantam pullet too. I can post the website for info if anyone is interested
Quote: My pullets look like that, but the older hens that are the roos' favorites have to have saddles on at all times. They cover about 3 acres free ranging all day, but even with unlimited space, they would still be naked-backed by May if it weren't for saddles. Everybody that comes over says "What are those chickens with the blue backs?: lol.
