Saturday's Chicken Nuggets. One shouldn't have favorites, but I already do! The one on on the left is my favorite so far. They should all look alike, but I can tell them apart since their gold heads are all a little different. The intensity of the black is different too.

I know there are a few Gold Laced breeders out there...have any of you noticed if f there is a connection between the color of day old down feathering and their adult feathers?

Marc, if you see this picture, they are chicks from your pullet. Thank you.
They are so cute! I think everybody has favorite chickens, so don't feel bad :)

Did the other egg ever pip?

darker color orps ( black, chocolate, blue) have slate legs lighter colored orps (white, buff) have white/pale pink legs as far as I know that is correct

So what color are orpington legs
supposed to be?

According to the APA:

Buff and White Orps: Shanks and Toes: Pinkish White

Black Orps: Shanks and Toes: black in young, shading to dark slate in adults; bottom of feet and toes, pinkish white.

Blue Orps: Shanks and toes: Leaden Blue, bottom of feet and toes pinkish white.

Although this thread is not about the American Standard, it is the only reference I have as to what to breed toward. You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.
