Then the really sad part about the theft of the wood splitter is that it was my mom's (she lives next door) poor thing is on a fixed income and barely gets by now. We split wood for her so it sits beside the wood pile in our yard (I don't have a wood burner........yet......) and our neighbors use it also when they need it. I do have cameras but it was situated between the wood pile and the horse trailer where it was completely out of site of the cameras. Not any more..........We moved the horse trailer now so everything is visible.

2 people pulled it by hand on the wet ground out to the street and hooked it to their truck as there were 2 pair of footprints. I've never had anything stolen so when I called the sheriffs department I thought they were going to send out the CSI team

............. but I guess they don't do that

they took all the information by phone. I know times are tough but they are tough for everyone not just the dirt bags who steal, and we would have gladly shared.............

OK there, I'm over it now, thanks for listening!

I have a 120 pound Akita that does not take kindly to people, or especially other animals, coming into her yard. When we had the old meter reader system the guy that came had my number on his cell. The Akita is on the inside of the fencing, the meter on the outside, but he did not want to ever lose a limb. As a pup she broke in-half an inch wide nylon leash...using her neck muscles. I guess a gunshot would slow her down, but they better get it right the first time because they'd be meat before they tried again.

I'd actually like a camera in the coop. Just what goes on in there? I would love to video tape when Mad Max is trying to show Baby- the drama queen, one more time, where to lay her egg. He makes these soothing type chirping noises. She looks at him and "yells" even louder. A scene right out of a Labor and Delivery Room, except they're chickens.

Sorry for your mom Some people steal because of need but most just because they can. Hopefully they will be caught but doesn't sound like a great effort to find out anything. It is the same way here .

Are your cockerels big eaters? I have a young 8 month old cockerel that may be chicken but eats like a horse. My DH has been feeding them all for the last week and he noticed too. He told me today that pen eats a lot of food. He is a growing boy. I looked at him a bit to day and my my he is going to be something. I will try and weigh him next month after I get over all the eye surgery and there is not danger of injury for my eyes.
We have cooler weather tonite. I put a few down on the ground today with a light hanging in their pen. I hope the do okay. I may have to go get one of those red heat lamp lites cause they are say ing we might have a freeze here by the weekend. My chickens think it is spring.

Yep....I've got a Rottweiller that is like that...I also have a Boxer that I thought was just peaches and cream...but a surveyor came up to our fence the other day and she was trying to eat him alive! I guess she thought he was an intruder...because when people come up and we let them in....she's just fine with that....but not my Rottweiler....she only loves us....period! Then we have all the little dogs that would probably trip them if they came into the house.....LOL

Dogs , no matter how big and fierce, can only really give you warning about an intruder. Anybody intent on harm will simply shoot the dogs. Little dogs are hated by burglars because they are hard to hit, and won't shut up, if the big dogs let them get that far. Then it's up to you.
