The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

If you don't cover the big holes somehow and some time occurs between the chicks hatching, the older ones will climb on the egg carton, eggs, or each other, through the big holes. I waited too long obviously, but didn't want to cool down the hatcher by opening it too much since some chicks were wet. Timing is everything. It takes practice in opening the hatcher lid and then the suet feeder lid in a quick motion.

My solution was to cover the suet feeder so that the lid can be opened. I did it with lingerie bag material and zip ties. Took a few minutes, but now in between I just hose it down and then wash it in the dishwasher, I've also sprayed it with a bleach solution and a few minutes rinse and then allow to air dry. It depends on how much time you have.

Be sure that the suet lid is closed tightly. Chicks can, and will, push the lid open and get out. Mine did.

I hope we don't go through all that again. It's already been established that judges are not DQ'ing birds for being overweight. We all have a copy of the SOP and can check out what it says. Someone is stating an opinion and preference lets just leave it at that ok? That horse died long time ago.
X2 ..X3 and 4.. The ladies were just expressing an opinion..Its not an us against them fight again..Vickie is unawares of some of the old disputes and hurt feelings that happened a long time ago and still for some reason have fresh wounds ..I know because I stumbled into those myself by accident not knowing who was mad at who for what......Julies birds are classic, beautiful and a delight to see each and every time..it never gets old or tired, they are smile makers....Vickie has great taste in birds but knows the ropes as they are spelled out..thats all..I would like to see us all get long and be adults and work to help each other..and not jump a chance to make an enemy where there dosnt need to be any..

What a proud looking one that is!! Boy Im not really great at this but Im going to throw ..boy on that one..dont rely on me thou..

Buff...

How do these look to you Mrs. Vickie?

As far as i can see, and please correct me if im wrong. Their buff color looks pretty even, and their skirt fluff looks managed and not overly exaggerated?
And the Cock bird, his chest is more broad then in the Blue video?

Agan, one thing i like about these birds the most is their buttons.
I love the color intensity of these European birds. The Cock bird is very nice indeed. He and my Monty are very similar in type and color. You can see Monty by clicking on my page, as there are lots of photos of him. The girls have a bit too much cushion to show here, and need stiff main tail feathers. You can see the legs and feet on thses birds, so they are able to function well.

Buttons ?????

LOL, I always guess wrong Lynne. Now the black chicks have me completely guessing. Goodness gracious, how could two varieties grow out so differently? They ALL look like cockerels.
