These chicks are 9 days old. They are from a splash cock over Blue hens. I weighed them tonite and they weigh 2.5 oz. each. I am going to weigh them along to see how they gain. Watching the colors on these. I am hoping they turn out light blue with really good lacing and type. We shall see. I weighed a pair of 8 week olds that I was mailing to a young lady the other day and they weighed a little over two lb each. I think that is a good weight for that age.

These splash are two days old.

Toe punch chicks but what happens if you loose your toe punch.? Get a small pair of scissors and cut a V notch in the web of the toe. Many breeders in the old days would put a toe punch on the right foot and a V notch on the left foot if they had to many mattings.

Here is something I hope to start doing this year. Wing Band my chicks with Jiffy Wing Bands sold by most Poultry Supply houses. If done correctly you will have a life time method of ID your birds. Some people use different colors for the years to help keep their birds ID. Congratulations on your hallmark page number. Keep them moving. you will double this in no time.

I have a chick that hurt one of her toes, might be broken. She can't put weight on it. I was thinking about taping two toes together with First Aid Waterproof tape. Do I need to splint it somehow? Would the tape help or should I try something else?
