The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Thanks Jeremy. That's quite a compliment! Last year I worried about everything. This year I've been able to relax and enjoy them more.

I can't get enough of those pictures, Dee. Lovely, lovely birds! You've managed to have TYPE like mad while having knockout coloring. Once you reach your goal, just wow.

You're welcome Dee.

Do you plan on working with any other colors, Silver Laced maybe?

No, Jeremy. My heart is all Gold Laced. I have the beginning of four lines and that is all I can house, feed, and spoil. I do love so many other varieties, but I'm going to see this one improve a little at a time.

And don't think that these compliments are making my head big. I've received much advise from a Dragon that frequents this forum :0) and from a German breeder, Demler, that is thrilled to see them flourish here. I have also received advise from a French geneticist that has ideas on how to improve the shafting-which some of you know is my nemesis. But, the biggest gift this year came from pure luck. The GL have so much genetic diversity that it's all a "let's wait and see" approach to breeding. Some day I will breed carbon copies, but it looks like that will take years.

Truely inspiring both in words and in actual deeds. Your GL's are beautiful!

That GL pullet would win anywhere ! She is lovely , and is the result of good breeding, and superlative conditioning. There is also a very important factor involved, and that is that Dee has an "eye'. As a former dog breeder, Dee knows the importance of breeding to a standard , and has done just that. I love being God mother to these God chicklets. Go Dee !

Someday Dee...Write a blog or a paper on your experiences and advise that you received, ect..its so important to the future of orp breeding..you are amazing! inspiration to all of us...a little hard work and experienced help has done some fantastic things...you see the birds every day so you might not notice the subtle changes....but we sure do..

Ive been receiving some fantastic advise as well from across the pond..someday when things slow down HA , I will pick that dragons brain too..need some advise on few issues..some of it is common sence..some gets a little tricky..and some of my translations arnt the best..

OK, someone please post a picture or ask a question...new subject, plz. All of these compliments are making me blush.

Lynne, I understand what you mean about the language barriers and translations. (The idioms kill me and them.) The Germans describe type quite often as "U" shape, or "V" . It's especially nice that a common goal transcends all politics and history between countries. It's all about the birds for a change.
