All from Nellie - hatched out sometime in April, so they're just over 4 mo now:

I'm growing this not so little guy out - he's the biggest out of the 4 k's I got (almost 1.5 x's)

My favorite black pullet - the sweetest face ever:

being photo bombed by Mr. It's All About Me...

Here is a blue pullet at the same age from Nellie as well:

tail is down since she is balancing on a roosting post. Normally carried upright, but I just can't get a still shot of her on the ground. I lover her pale blue color and if her type pans out, my plan is to try a hatching with her and the splash rooster I got from Roger. Hopefully I can get a couple nicely laced lighter blues?

Anyway, thanks Nellie! We've been thrilled with the chicks and eggs we got from you. Will try to post some pics of the chocolate chips from Nellie and Bryce this afternoon...

They are beautiful! It makes me want to order some.

Jeremy,
Have you ever owned a SOP bred Orp ? My SOP girls lay like crazy, and produce about twice as many eggs a year as my English birds. They are stlll laying now, in molt. I wish they'd just stop.

No, I haven't. I have only ever owned/bred my English birds, so I don't have any firsthand experience to compare them with American SOP birds.

My girls do stop laying through molt thought, which I have always considered normal. When they are laying though I typically get at last 4-5 eggs per week from a hen.

I'm going to be crossing a few English lines together next year, as well as outcrossing to another line to introduce a new color into my flock. It'll be interesting to see if their progeny will be better producers due to the influx of new blood.

I just heard from Lynne, AVECA, that her Monty son from me just won CH. English at 10 1/2 months old at his first show. Lynne has done a beautiful job of raising and conditioning him. Here's a photo from The Twin Tiers show in NY. taken today. I couldn't be more pleased. Lynne has 2 pullets from me who will be out shortly.

Congratulations Lynne!
