How soon should I be expecting pullet eggs? My pullets are a little bit over 3 months old and one already does the submissive squat when I pet her.

3 months is way too early. I have had some pullets lay at 4 1/2 months. But my English Orps almost never start until 7 months or later. I have a partridge orp that is 9 months old and layed 2 eggs when she was 8 months old and then none since. So it just really depends upon when the pullet is ready.

Step 1:

Partridge X Splash= 100% F1 Blue offspring, all recessively carrying the genes necessary to produce Blue Partridge offspring, with varying degrees of red/gold leakeage (especially in the males)

Step 2:

F1 Blue X F1 Blue= F2 BBS offspring similar to their F1 parents, as well as F2 Blue Patridge, F2 Black Partridge and F2 Splash Partridge offspring. 

Step 3:

Breed the F2 Blue, Black, and Splash Partridge X F2 Blue, Black, and Splash Partridge (or to another unrelated line of Patridge birds) to clean up color and help to define the partridge pattern. 

Aaaand with some selective breeding, as well as heavy culling of unwanted birds you'll then have a new line of Blue Partridge Orps.

My poor English Orpington chicks in this muggy Tennessee heat. I've gotten them a shop fan outside of their run and have ordered a battery powered tent fan as well. Do chickens ever seek out water to stand in? I would be happy to get them a kiddie wading pool if they will use it.

This is my first spring hatch, are we looking at 5 cockerels? They are 4 Partridge Orpingtons and one BCMs, the Marans has already crowed. I like having some choices for upcoming Cock birds, but this is a little ridiculous. Do you all agree with me here? or is there some chance I have a pullet in the mix.

. I did get some picks of my lovely Buff Columbian girls

that are all grown up now.

They sure are a sweet bunch. It is difficult to tell from the pis but these girls are huge like their momma. Still working on the Columbian pattern but it is coming along pretty good.

Thank you for the thought . We have only hatched a few and 90% of those have been boys . I did get some picks of my lovely Buff Columbian girls that are all grown up now. They sure are a sweet bunch. It is difficult to tell from the pis but these girls are huge like their momma. Still working on the Columbian pattern but it is coming along pretty good.

Buff Colombian=buff Delaware?
