Some brooder shots, sorry about the red light, I didn't want them to be too cold.

I've already started calling these two my "little chunkers", the splash chick and I think possibly a dark blue?

Someone looks less than thrilled about the impromptu photoshoot...

Joy and I had a great phone conversation after I picked the babies up, I can agree with her saying we were both on pins and needles until I got them home safe and sound in their brooder. All 11 chicks arrived unscathed and are pigging out as I type this, they quickly found their food and their water not too long after, such smart babies.

I'm so happy that they're home and so very pleased with the chicks. Thank you again so much Joy!

So glad they arrived safely, so glad you are happy with them !! We did have a wonderful phone conversation and it was really such a pleasure to "talk" to you !!

They look like they survived their journey well. They all look fat and healthy, and not all that scared !!

You got some great shots !!! I love the last photo...adorable !!!

They aren't afraid of anything! They didn't even peep loudly like other chicks I've had do when you separate them to take pictures, they just sat there calm as can be and waited until I was done. None have shown any sign of fatigue due to shipping or being lethargic, (*knocks on wood*) they all seem to be doing very well.

I told Joy as soon as I walked into the PO I heard them peeping LOUD from the back room, I knew then that they had made it through the mail just fine.

It's rice hulls, or husks. (Different name, same stuff.) There's virtually no powder/dust like you have with the pine shavings and it's MUCH cheaper than the pine. A huge bag that will literally last you months is only like $12. I like it a lot. It's cute to see the chicks peck at it first, realize it's not food then go back to the feeder and munch on the real thing.

ETA: Cheryl is the one who turned me on to the hulls! I visited her and she had a beautiful brooder set up and I asked the same thing, "What kind of bedding is that!?"
