The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Ummmm, no .....

I sure like those Buff birds though!

No? Not even when they were finished?

The Buffs are to die for. I wish so much that we had something of that quality in this country.

Well, they are a work in progress. Maybe they will look better in the end. My imagination is just not vivid enough to envision the outcome, I guess. Some varieties (colors and patterns) I just don't like. I love my Delawares, but am just not sure their pattern would be attractive to me on a big ol' Orp. Maybe, though.......

Hello Orpington friends.

It looks as if my latest batch is turning out to be a brooder full of boys...

They're still young yet so I'm not 100% positive on anyone's gender, but a few already have big combs. I'll probably have a few boys that will be looking for new homes if that's the case.

I'm going to try and get some updated pictures soon.

How old are your chicks Kathy? My "Bama" chicks are 5 months old now. I have some beautiful pullets. I am hoping they will be ready for the big show here next month. I will try to get some pics of them tonight and post them.... Love me some English Orps!!

Those are from my June 20th hatch. I have quite a few boys, for sure, too. Just hoping for a few nice black girls.

Yeah, I guess my days of only hatching pullets have ended...

Your Black girls are very pretty Kathy, I don't have any Black chicks yet, due to Neville being a Splash. Next year though I'll use a Blue rooster over some of my Blue hens and my one Black hen and hatch some!

Here at my place it has been the Summer of the Cockerel.

I have hatched 13 FBCM cockerels and ONE pullet. I've hatched 7 Isabel and Porcelain Orps and ONE pullet, who was nabbed by a raccoon in DAYTIME in the middle of town. I've hatched 6 bantam Cochin cockerels and ONE pullet. I'm not even going to try to guess on the Silkies, because that's just folly at this point.

I'm growing them out because I can't help it, always trying to look for what the future bird will look like...but I fear there will be a big freezer camp gala soon.

*sigh*
