The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Matt, thank you. I take that as a great compliment from some one who's Orpingtons I have admired for years. That cockerel is just beautiful. I am going to send you some pics to advise me on. I have two that I consider my best and I think the lacing on the chest is good.

Please let us know how he does showing.

Hi Everyone

Been trying to catch up on this thread and WOW - what gorgeous pictures of gorgeous birds !! I'm so thrilled and excited to see the interest in English Orps !! Amazing.

I snapped a few shots earlier today of a couple of mine, so thought I'd share. I need to get a good picture of Winston. He is still molting and doesn't have much of a tail still. Anyway...

Goldie - she is such a sweet girl. She is about 7.5 months old here

Clementine - she just gets prettier and prettier every year. She is not quite 2.5 years old.

Minerva - She is a pretty thing - she's about 3 years old.

And Clementine again.

Julie - this is for you. After we hung up a few minutes ago, I heard a noise on the porch - went to the door and this was standing there .... Minerva and Matilda wanting more of that cornbread.

Ah phewy Joy. I can't see it and I can't seem to copy and paste the thing to my browser. Now your going to have to try again cause you got my curosity up to see them.
Hey and i am going to send you a pm of a very nice message I recieved and they sent you a greeting too.

Okay now I see them and look at that lacing. Minerva always one of my favorite girls. I am so glad you have been enjoying her these last two years. She showed well.

Joy - NICE looking birds.... looking very curious as to where their cornbread went... LOL

Hopefully things will slow down a bit here and I can post some pictures of my new english breeds... hetic - very hetic esp with Christmas around the corner.

Take care,
Richard

Julie - Minerva has beautiful lacing, she has always been gorgeous. Matilda has always been on the smaller side (when compared with the others), but she has really filled out this last year and has nice lacing too. These two have been favorites since the day they arrived here from you. They are not only beautiful, but they are just the sweetest girls. They are also extremely spoiled !!! I have another picture where Minerva, Matilda, Winston, Clementine and Goldie were all up on the porch begging for treats !! I'll have to post it here later. The chickens are worse than the dogs about begging.

Richard - Thank you !! I think they are quite special, myself. I'm looking forward to seeing those photos.

PS - all the cornbread was gone, but I cut them up a banana and they were thrilled. We always say that if we gave the chickens a hammer and nails they would build us a new house for a banana. They LOVE bananas.

Clementine is so beautiful, I feel like with age these birds just get prettier and prettier. My girls are all over a year now and most are finished or are almost done with their molts so I took a few pictures today too while they were playing in our forest of a backyard. The love digging underneath the tall trees in the leaf mulch, I love just to sit and watch them. I didn't get any shots of Alice, she's still molting and looks like a mess but I was able to get some of Elizabeth, Vivi and Thelma.

Elizabeth.

Not the greatest pictures but these shots show her color pretty well, I really like how she's matured and feel like she looks even better going into her second year.

Elizabeth and Vivi.

Vivi, she was my broody who just wouldn't give up this year! She's the darkest hen I have.

Vivi, with Thelma hiding in the background, she is the hardest chicken to get a good picture of!

Thelma, the best shot I could manage. She's just finishing her molt, her tail and cushion are still growing back in.

This picture shows her shape a bit better but is blurry.

My oldest bunch of babies are just over 3 months old, we moved them to an outdoor pen yesterday... they were still living in my laundry room up until now, we would cart them outside every morning to the yard. You know who said they were big enough and needed to go outside. I guess he's probably right...
