The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

thank you guys, I'm going to separate my white Orps and put them in with my Black Rooster

and keep the Blue rooster with the Blue girls and start hatching them in 2 weeks, they have been laying for the past couple of weeks, and i got the bators running so......................

at the moment they are all together but as soon as they are let out to free range the boy's ( brothers ) go at it for a min or two and then they are the best brothers ever it's weird.

I love this picture Nava! LOL.

For crele orpington very eazy , need to cross the cockoo orp with buff then buff again and u get the Crele

Cuckoo X Buff will not give you Crele. Like Bob and OSUman both explained you would need a Partridge (or BBR) bird to make a true breeding Crele Orp.

And very fine lavender orpingtons at that!! :) I have two pair from Marc, they are Fabulous! Big, gorgeous..............my hubby calls them my "lavender elephants" !!

I want to see pictures of these Lavender elephants!

no.. I mean a Dun Base Chocolate(heterozygous Dun) and recessive sex link choc on the same bird... that will give you a Beige colored Orp...
this is what Beige looks like....

its dun based chocolate and recessive sex link chocolate(homozygous form) on the same bird..

they are a color project at this stage(with silkies) but could be also worked on Orps..

I've haven't heard of this color until now, it's interesting. Would it be hard to breed because of how similar both Chocolate and Dun can look? What happens when you get a double dose of Dun in the birds?

Where could I find LF Dun Orpingtons?

I'm intrigued.

That's OK Jeremy, I have been laid up in this house to long with this bad knee its about to drive me crazy not being able to do what I normally do out side with my birds, so maybe I do stand a chance if one of my chicks turn out to be a roo. Which I hardly ever wish that, so they will probely all turn out to be pullets with the way my luck goes.

Roger, I hope you're knee stops bothering you soon. I'll cross my fingers that you get a little roo, hopefully I do too.

I hope so to this is the hen that he will be breed to:
I love this girl!

Julie, your Blue cockerel is very handsome. I love those little Splash babies too.

I'm all caught up now, everyone stop talking for a few days so that I can rest my fingers.

Not the greatest pictures, the little boogers wouldn't hold still, but here are my two LF project Chocolate chicks.

The Choc baby.

The Black, hopefully it's a cockerel, if it is a male he'll be split Choc.

I wish I could just fast forward time to see what they'll look like in 6 months...

You got a quick start.. glad you got some out, I wish it were easier to tell the black from the chocolate younger but at least for me theyre both really dark

I want to try that, but need more space. I am working on Mauve bantams

Nice.. let us know how that came out ok.. Mauve is recessive sex link chocolate and Blue(Bl/bl+) I will try to find pics of them.. but I would gess they would look like Henk´s Platinum Blues(Dun based chocolate and Blue Bl/b+ on the same bird)
