The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I like how even their little feet are chocolate colored. I'm really excited to see everyone's birds grow.

Thanks for that heads up, I did not know choc could dilute chicks shank dermal/epidermal melanin...

Here are my chocolate chicks so far, I have 6 out and also some blacks or splits out. They're pictured from youngest to oldest. Ive been trying to hatch out some pure blues before I pen up my mauve pen.

Once again I must Thank Julie for all her hard work with Orpingtons. Had a show yesterday, left my best boy at home as he is not thru with his molt. Pulled out and took one of my girls not expecting much. There were 8 LF orps and all were nice and large birds, there and 16 total in the class and my girl took BEST ENGLISH!!! Thank you Julie.

A word of advice for everyone with these beautiful birds, Keep check on the hens when the roo. is with them, I usually check mine about once a week for cuts from the roo. breeding them, well I had knee surgery about 2 weeks ago & couldn't get around very well & let it go till now & last night I found while checking them that the roo. had been very rough with one of my young hens & cut her up so bad that while trying to mend her up a little while ago she died while I was trying to fix her up, she never showed any signs of being hurt until today, I had no idea she was in this kinda shape & it upsets me so bad that this has happened to one of my pure English hens only had 5 now I'm down to 4, so just a word of addvice keep check on them !!!!! even though they look & act OK, I hope this will prevent it happing to any of y'all, all my others are fine, just this one, Anyway hope this helps out.
