The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

We have the German security system as well. :D

I have the Great Pyreneese system :)
If thieves can make it through it through a locked and coded gate, 2 electric fences, my lab, my great Pyreneese and the locks on my coop, then I'll hand it to them. They are relentless!

I am more worried about the hawks in my area. I can't let my chickens free range anymore because the hawk population has grown so large. There is also a pair of bald eagles in the woods behind my house... :(

I tooo am well prepared for an unwanted visitor... :) He is BIIIGGG, black, hairy, with big teeth, and has a head full of sense... No he isn't my husband.. lol He is only one aspect of security around here. I have many... and those of you that have been to my FB page... Know first hand... that I am no stranger to using a gun. We are a family that hunts together ")

Just a warning to everyone who posts photos of their birds here . I've had some weird calls about my birds . I'm may be a bit paranoid after having a young pair stolen this summer , but I want to give everyone a heads up , that I smell a rat.

We are taking Orp. security very seriously after this summer . In addition to locks on all the runs, cameras have been installed that monitor everything . My husband, bless him , was going to give me the system for Christmas , but decided we needed to install it NOW !

In over 50 years breeding birds , I have never had this sort of concern before.

Be safe everyone !

X's 2.
We do not allow pick ups on the farm or visitors that we don't know. We also have security cameras with a double gate across the drive and motion sensor lights everywhere (and an awesome farm dog). Not to mention we are pretty much retired to the farm and here most all the time. We too have had some very strange people "stop by" looking for someone that we have never heard of. Our valley is pretty much all family members who watch out for each other (day and night).

Very sad when we have to worry about such things. Nice to hear how others are set up for security!

Seriously?!, As if thinking about hawks,raccoons,dogs,etc..wasn't bad enough, now I have to wonder about people?!..Sorry you have to go to such lengths to "protect" your OWN property!..I have pretty fierce Pomeranian, but I doubt that he is much of a deterrent!
